ISRAEL.
Israel Post have issued 6 Air Mail sets in total and none since the Export issue of 1968. There have been, however, some long sets and some very nice and unusual designs. I do not have copies of the first air mail issue of 1950, which are hard to find in good condition and even harder on postally used covers. The second air mail issue was available on 13th April, 1952 and coincided with the Second National Stamp Exhibition in Haifa. Two views of Haifa Bay with the Haifa Coat of Arms are depicted along with a plane at top left. The tabs have the Exhibition name 'Taba' and the Logo. Shown are Plate Number singles without Tab.
Designed by Otte Wallish who designed many of Israel's early stamps. Offset Litho, Perf 14.

The third airmail series of Israel was an ongoing one with issues from March, 1953 until November 1956. They depicted Israel landscapes with names in both Hebrew and French on the Tab. 5 of the 9-stamp set had selvedge. The first stamp of the series was the 1000 Pruto value and this was issued in smaller quantities, becoming the scarcest of all the Israel Airmail stamps. Designed by G.Hamori. Offset Litho, Perf 14. The plane has been placed to good effect in this series and no more so than on the scarce 1000 Pruto stamp. The atmosphere of the darkened sky, the Palm tree swaying in the wind and the plane flying overhead makes for a superb design. One of our members will soon be receiving a lovely plate block of 4 of this stamp ! Londonbus1

I love the 750 value - what kind of plant is that?

This thread has inspired me. I have some Israel Air Mail stamps that I need to post to album pages. I think I'll move them up on my mental stamp "to do" list. My specimens are just plain stamps not tabbed nor with selvege.
Thanks for sharing these from way back when...
