While going through my Bulgarian stamps I came across this 50¢ 1911 issue on clipped paper with a German Feldpost cancel. The same doesn't look like it was actually on a letter. I can't read the date in the middle. Tried retroReveal but I didn't get anything from that. I looked up the German 105th Infantry Division in WWI and found that elements of the division were sent to Bulgaria in the summer of 1916. Anyone know any more about these German field office cancels? Most that I've found on the web are just the cancels. Seems that was sufficient to post a letter or card. Thanks

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many, many catalogues ....

We need PostmasterGS to weigh in on this .... the precision of the socked-on-nose aspect leads me to think it's a philatelic usage / favour cancel, but I'm certainly no expert. Ryan
