A woman took a package to the post office to mail and was told it would cost $2.40 for fast delivery or $1.30 for slower service. "There is no hurry," she told the clerk, "just so the package is delivered in my lifetime." The postmaster glanced at her and said, "That will be $2.40, please."
Did you hear the one about the unstamped letter? You wouldn't get it.
I just got my new driver's license in the mail the other day. It expired last month unfortunately.
One day a man decided to go sit on his porch and watch the sun rise and set. The next thing you know there is a blonde running to her mailbox. She kept running back and forth from her house to the mailbox for a good ten minutes. Finally the man got tired of wondering, and asked, "Why do you keep running back and forth to the mailbox?"
The blonde replied, "My computer keeps saying I've got mail."
Larry's stamp collection was stolen, and Susan, his wife, called the insurance company: "We had that collection insured for fifty thousand and I want my money". Agent: "Whoa there just a minute, Susan. It doesn't work quite like that. We will ascertain the value of the collection and provide you with a similar one of comparable worth". Susan, after a pause: "I'd like to cancel the policy on my husband..."

I told Sara that joke rod222 she had a good laugh, after being with me for the Winnipeg stamp show she learnt that the dealers are a hard bunch to haggle. I was looking at one cover that had $250 price tag and was interested in it. I told her that cover I would like but not at that price, she asked what would you be willing to pay? $150 max I told her. Off she goes on her own and went to the dealer and asked about the cover and told him $125 she take it off his hands the answer he gave was " I have to eat" she went to $150 and walked away. On the drive home she told me she sneaked off to the dealers table and asked to buy the cover but he wouldn't sell it for the price you said and decided not to buy it do me as a present. After I told her the joke she said that what the dealer said to her. She said next time we go to a show we will bring along a bag of sandwiches lol

For the uninitiated, the full cancellation (used in Singapore in 1941) is: DON'T WRITE ABOUT SHIPS

Here's an old one:
In a tiny village on the Irish coast lived an old lady, a virgin and very proud of it. Sensing that her final days were rapidly approaching, and desiring to make sure everything was in proper order when she died, she went to the town's undertaker (who also happened to be the local postal clerk) to make the proper "final" arrangements. As a last wish, she informed the undertaker that she wanted the following inscription engraved on her tombstone:
"BORN A VIRGIN, LIVED AS A VIRGIN, DIED A VIRGIN"
Not long after, the old maid died peacefully.
A few days after the funeral, as the undertaker/postal clerk went to prepare the tombstone that the lady had requested, it became quite apparent that the tombstone that she had selected was much too small for the wording that she had chosen.
He thought long and hard about how he could fulfil the old maid's final request, considering the very limited space available on the small piece of stone. For days, he agonized over the dilemma. But finally his experience as a postal worker allowed him to come up with what he thought was the appropriate solution to the problem.
The virgin's tombstone was finally completed and duly engraved, and it read as follows:
"RETURNED UNOPENED"

Knee slapper Rod..My second rock wall (paid one) is coming along, about halfway, although this one lower and narrower it is bit more difficult as it is being built with roundish stone. The landscaping is flat rock laid into #1 stone lining a large embankment accented by natural pine posts with support arms suspending windchimes and numerous bird feeders and lanterns.Still working up ideas for the walkways and another steeper embankment. If the weather holds I may finish this year.My back is stoop sore every day, rocks are large, heavy and wall is low.Unexpected difficultly is finding enough natural stone, customer doesn't like shale which is the most prevalent here.

I still think this one is a pretty good joke, except, sadly, President Marcos just COULDN'T stop smuggling. [BROKEN IMAGE LINK(S) REMOVED]
And yes, I know it's a legit overprint, but the irony is just TOO delicious.
