Issued a few months later,onMay 2oth,1950 this stamp commemorates the centenary of Austrian stamps. The special thing about this stamp is it´s paper: it is printed on card-board strong "Japan-Papier".

Bragging rights for whoever has (and posts) the earliest (oldest) stamp on stamp stamp. Check this post out: thestampforum.boards.net/post/48733/threadThis stamp-on-stamp example was issued on 1st June 1935 by Portugal. This is the earliest stamp-on-stamp issue that I could find. I will re-post with image a little later tonight. This is the best I can do for the moment. |

Here's one from 1897 !! Souvenir from the Leipzig Stamp Exhibition advertising one of the participating dealers. I have no idea how many there are in the 'set' but it might be worth the effort !! Interesting design too.  |

This is the earliest stamp-on-stamp issue that I could find. It is Portugal, Scott #570, issued on 1st June 1935. Does this qualify me for the bragging rights? The Tristan da Cunha issues for the 50th anniversary of their first stamp, 4 commemoratives and an accompanying block, from 2002. This is one of the duplicate sets I received yesterday, so any reasonable trade offer will be entertained.  |
