Hi,
My name is Tom and I live near Wenatchee in the central part of Washington State.
I'm new to stamp collecting and my main interest is in stamps from around the world that show wildlife. I have a lot to learn about how to organize and display stamps and look forward to reading about these topics from the experienced collectors here. I choose my stamps based on appearance without regard to resale value.
Thanks for letting me join and best wishes to everyone.
Tom

Welcome Tom. I am just up across the border in Langley, BC. My animal collection is pretty well confined to turtles. I know you will find many friends here!

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your kind welcomes. Is there a place on the forum to ask dumb, beginner questions or a place where I might find that sort of info before posting? I have some questions regarding mounting and displaying stamps and have done a few searches but not found what I'm looking for.
zipper -- I would be happy to show some of my stamps. I suppose scanning them would be advisable anyway as a means of record-keeping?
rod222 -- Yes, I think the "Animals and birds" thread will a place I check often and where I show my stamps.
My best to you all.

Tom It's an old saying, but true (especially here) "There are no dumb questions" we all learn, we all have differing skills. Thanks for asking, you will be a worthy TSF "Librarian" Best route: try and build on an existing thread, if you can, it builds a great Library Go to Search Put in a phrase of your choice.........let's say "Stamp Mounts" Important: click "Display results as threads" Choose your preferred thread Perhaps post here thestampforum.boards.net/post/1847/threadPost away, have no fear....... Hope that helps.

Tom your in good company here. A lot of us have been collectors the majority of our lives. You get to tap the lessons we have learned and add your own experiences to the data as you go.I wonder what the combined years of collecting we represent here? Now there is an interesting thought for a different thread.Tom ask any questions without fear we are here to help.

Hi again everyone,
Thanks, reena and Jen B for the welcome messages.
rod222 -- Between the thread on stamp mounts and the search method you suggested I found the answers I was looking for. If I keep having this kind of luck, I won't be making that many posts! So, thanks for your help.
firstfrog2013 -- Thanks for the encouragement. In spite of what I wrote above, I'm sure I'll come up with some questions to ask before too much longer.
I think my next step will be to try to scan some of my stamps tomorrow to put on the "Animals and birds" thread. See you there?

Thanks to everyone for the recent welcome messages. Due to personal issues, I've been away from stamp collecting and the forums for the past seven years. I'm now interested in picking up where I left off. In the meantime, I've relocated to Oroville, Washington, north of Wenatchee and near the Canadian border.
My interests are still in wildlife stamps of various countries and I'm looking forward to uploading more images.
All the best.
