A lot of us have been collectors the majority of our lives. You get to tap the lessons we have learned and add your own experiences to the data as you go.I wonder what the combined years of collecting we represent here? Now there is an interesting thought for a different thread. Indeed, a most interesting thought. So why not state here the number of years you have been collecting. Do not try to dismiss hiatus time, we all have that, just calculate the years from when you started to the present. Then add that to the total from the previous post and let's see what we come up with. I'll get the ball rolling.
I started collecting at age 9 in 1957, so 59 years of experience.
Cumulative total: 59 years

I've only been collecting for two years, but that will help the cumulative total a little. With my small contribution, it is now at 138 years.

I started at age 10 and am still going - I go in fits and starts depending on what else is on the go (I decided to finally rip all my CDs to MP3s now that external drives are so inexpensive so I've been busy doing that lately) but I've never had too long of a break before digging out more stamps to sort, so I'll add 41 years to the total. That makes 549.

Around 1978 my dad came home and handed me a couple packs of ctos that he had bought at the PX. He did that a few times. He never collected stamps, so to me they were stickers. Cool, stickers though. I have been collecting postcards since 1976. As a stamp collector, I started about 2002, so 14 years.
