Great, now y'all have got me looking at postmarks... (yay!) This is actually a pretty interesting one. In the 70's the government required all immigrants with permanent residence that were not naturalized citizens to report their addresses. I asked my mom, who is exactly such and immigrant, if she still had to do this today, and she said that this policy "died a long time ago." You learn something new every day, and you can read more about it here: www.nytimes.com/1971/11/16/archives/aliens-in-us-must-report-addresses-during-january.html

A couple of NYC duplex postmarks
I have no scholarly information about these, only an unscholarly comment that I have a small accumulation of Numeral and Letter duplexes which I enjoy adding to. There are scads of them to collect.

Good evening. I found hundreds, if not thousands of post cards. Are cancelled ones more valuable than brand new ones? Have them both. Have not even done a little bit of research on them since trying to sort out stamps first.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Good evening. I found hundreds, if not thousands of post cards. Are cancelled ones more valuable than brand new ones? Have them both. Have not even done a little bit of research on them since trying to sort out stamps first. That really depends on the collector. Many people from my hometown think I collect postcards of the area but in reality I am only looking for postmarks from some of the smaller villages. Often it is near impossible to find a cover from these little communities so postcards is the next best thing and I would pay a premium for the postmark. For actual postcard collectors an unused pristine copy would be more desirable. Like most collectables the bulk of them will have little value but with research you can find out which ones are real gems.

USPS 2024 National Dog Bite Awareness Campaign June 2 through June 9Today, I received these two letters that were canceled during the week of Dog Bite Awareness. The cancels relate directly to the hazards and precautions of USPS carriers when encountering dogs.

Nothing unusual about this June 20, 2024 postmark from South Jersey, New Jersey on a post card (except the sender didn't apply a stamp).
