I recently placed an order for a hard to find book from a major Italian supplier The book was packaged in a corrugated box but the box was inside a LARGE woven polypro. bag - big enough to hold 100 lbs of potatoes [Images intentionally deleted by poster] It also had an Italian P.O. tag attached - surprised Canada Post made the delivery Anyway - great company to deal with - $10 (cheapest method) freight & got it in under 2 weeks They included for free, 2 very well done 2015 Bolaffi catalogs of Vatican & San Marino stamps - pictures of all the stamps issued in full Hi Res color

Yep, that's M-bag mailing. Rarely used. Back when I used to do overseas mailing of bulk printed matter, we had considered using it but finally decided against it (I forgot why). I didn't realize it was still available! But I just checked with USPS and apparently it is!

OK, I re-read the terms and now remember the reason why. Things like insurance, registration... are not options for M-bags (at least not for outgoing US M-bags).

That's actually the first time I've seen it imprinted on the bag itself! The ones I saw from USPS were just generic woven plastic bags, and you would attach the tag after twisting/tying the bag opening. I guess the postal services are trying to cut down on mis-use of postal supplies.
Thanks for the pic!
