Hello to everyone from India. I was a young boy when I started collecting stamps and spent most of my pocket money on stamps and related items. I made penpals (yes, I am that old!!!) from other countries to exchange stamps. Now after more than three decades, I am coming out of hibernation and restarting my hobby, starting my digging out my old albums and old stamp magazines and catalogues.
I used to collect post-Independence India, GB, Australia and some themes. I want to include pre-independence India in my collection. I am still torn between collecting theme or countries. I am hoping to discover new interests as I dig more into it and want to grow into a mature philatelist. I am hoping to learn from fellow philatelists here and would be happy to share my experiences of the love of stamps.
Cheers folks!

Welcome Manishmo, and welcome back! I too started collecting again after being away from stamps for over 30 years. These past 6 years (that's how long my 'return' has been) have been very rewarding, and this group here are terrific. You'll enjoy yourself, I'm sure.

Welcome to our Forum, theamateurphilatelist ! Your story is a familiar one...many of us put collecting on hold as other life matters took priority but were eventually drawn back into the fold. I look forward to learning more about you and the direction that your collecting interests will be taking.

Trying to document my experiences at The Amateur Philatelist.

Glad your here manishmo ! I love early colonial issues from all the issuing countries. Hope you'll share pictures of your collection with us.I'm quite sure the forgotten information is popping back into your head now.I read your blog a most interesting common memory for us all,the way things have changed from our early collecting. The brick and mortar stores are few and far between now.Lots of online sellers though so we still pursue our paper goodies.

Manish, judging from the number of (often very interesting) philatelic blogs from India, it seems to me that the hobby is having a bit of a renaissance there. Am I correct?
