Greetings all from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.
I've been stamp collecting for almost 22 years. I began collecting when my first grandchild was born because I felt that despite my young age for being a grandfather I needed to do something "grandfatherly" so I started a stamp collection. In actuality I view it as my granddaughter's stamp collection and I as merely the steward of the collection. Sadly my granddaughter is ambivalent about the whole thing.
My collecting interests are: National Collections: United States Canada Poland Liechtenstein
Topical: Non-Denominated US Postage from 1975 until the first Forever stamp National Parks (US) Louisiana (US) Texas (US) New Mexico (US) America at War (US) Nudes & Pin-Ups (WW) Ships & Watercraft (WW) Love & Special Occasions (US) Chris Calle Engraved (US) US Bicentennial (WW) Baseball (WW) American Football (WW)
Regional: Latin America Scandinavia
I'm also have a soft spot for kiloware (currently still sorting right at 30 pounds I acquired a few years back).
Look forward to posting with you all and glad to be here.

Ron, Welcome to our Forum! Perhaps if you add one or two topical themes of interest to your granddaughter (e.g., puppies, cartoon characters, dolls, etc.) she might catch the bug (bear in mind that this advice is from someone who couldn't peak the interest of either of his kids). I'll adjust your membership status so that you can participate in other areas of the forum as I'm sure we'd all like to see some of your favorite material.

Alas but I've tried that (thus my topical collection of "Love & Special Occasions"). This ain't my first rodeo. For over twenty years I had a full blown darkroom setup at the house and do you think one of my children had any interest at all in learning photography? Nope.

Welcome aboard Ron. While I've been more absent lately then present I look forward to seeing you about. If possible we love to look at some scans from your collection. I've done my best to try to inform my heirs of what I have here but fear it is only dollars signs in their eyes. They've already picked what guitars they each want from that collection.

Hi Ron from Atlanta. I noticed you collect Latin America. Any special country or all? I collect only Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Jerry B

Jerry B, my "collecting" of Latin America and Scandinavia is loose to say the least. I don't collect any particular country just the regions. I started those two regional collections because I came across a good number of stamps from those areas while sorting kiloware. On that kiloware note... I swear... one day... Germany.
