9th November (1935) Canada, Scott #213, 3-cent carmine, 25th Jubilee Issue (1910-1935) depicting King George V and Queen Mary, postmarked on this date in 1935, probably in Sidney, British Columbia, located on Vancouver Island. Thanks to Ryan for his help with the town ID. This stamp is one in a set of six values. I acquired this stamp from firstfrog2013 as part of the TSF Donation Auction lot earlier this year. Thanks, Frog!

10th November (1926-1929) India, Scott #107, 1/2-anna green definitive stamp, watermarked Multiple Stars, depicting King George V, postmarked on this date in the late 1920s. This stamp is one of the low values in a set of 20 stamps issued from 1926-1936.

13k Soviet PSE (intended originally for registered letters), used as a blank for an ordinary letter in independent Ukraine. Mailed locally in Kiev during the post-independence inflation period and franked at the 100 karbovanets rate with a "100 krb 00 k" overprint on the PSE's indicium.

I could only see the last three letters "NEY", and when I tried to do a web search, I didn't get far. That's the problem if you can't see the first letters of the name. Anyway, thanks!

Posted elsewhere, but worth reposting. On this day, in 1918... James, thank you so much for making this post! Wow, I am impressed.... an actual philatelic piece from 11th November 1918, World War I Armistice Day. I am not a collector of postal history per se, but looking for items from significant dates in history is a pursuit that I find quite fascinating. This is an extremely cool item, and I just wanted to say thanks for posting a scan of it in the Postmark Calendar. Out of curiosity, how did you come by this? Did the seller recognize it for the significance of the date, or did you find it serendipitously?

Hey BG et al I found this envelope at a stamp show a couple of month ago in Toronto. The item itself is if rough shape as you can see, the the labels on the back caught my eye. My research found that they came from Camp Lewis in Tacoma which was set up during the First World War to help train soldiers, and had ties to the Red Cross and YMCA. I also loved the painting on the front of the cover. I didn't notice the date until I got it home, and actually scanned it to upload. Stupid I know, and not very observant, but I often find I see things in scans I don't notice in 'real life' Pretty sad, considering I'm an artist, and am supposed to be a 'visual person'. Glad you like it. This post has a link to the camp history. thestampforum.boards.net/thread/4978/united-states-camp-lewis-1918

12th November (1927) India, Scott #128, 4-anna olive green definitive stamp, watermarked Multiple Stars, depicting King George V, postmarked on this date in 1927. This stamp is more or less a re-issue of #88 and #116, as the designs are identical except for being inscribed INDIA POSTAGE rather than INDIA POSTAGE & REVENUE, as it is on #128. In spending this past weekend sorting through classic British India, I found that there are a number of these look-alike stamps issued during the reign of George V, so one needs to check carefully, both watermarks and design, to ensure proper identification. Despite a nice, clear strike of the date on this stamp, the place of cancellation is too indistinct for me to even hazard a guess.

November 13This cover with 6 cent carmine, perf. 11x10.5 air mail stamp depicting a twin-engine transport plane (Scott C25; 1941) was postmarked in San Diego, California on this date in 1942. The cover bears a Crosby cachet and was mailed by Private Dave Aguilar who was likely a guest of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at the time of the mailing.

Hello! I'm easing my way back into this....so let's get started with Emperor Augustus Caesar. November 14, 1933I can't quite make out the city in the postmark. My guess is it's Reggio Emilia, which, from Wikipedia, appears to be a beautiful city. I've been to Bologna (in the same region) and the region is lovely.

15 November 1954The postmark is a challenge, but my best guess is Schleitheim, which I just learned is a tiny municipality in the northern tip of Switzerland. If so, then perhaps they use the trains through the mountains like in the stamp! This is one of my all time favourite definitive sets, by the way. I love the modernist simplicity of it.

November 16Postmarked in downtown Steinbach, Manitoba on this date in 2015. Could this be one of those so-called "philatelic" covers?

16 November 1966I can juuust barely see the '1' in 16 on the perf. It doesn't line up with the circle cancel so I'm calling this the 16th. King Frederick IX. By the centring on the town name, I will guess it was cancelled in Thuro By. But admittedly, there's not much to go on. Could be Nordby, Egby, Sundby, Norre Aby or too!

Vasia, it looks to me like the cancellation reads "VENEZIA CORRISPONDENZA". The literal translation of "corrispondenza" is "correspondence", but I know from my knowledge of French that "correspondance" can also be used to mean transfer or connection, such as in train travel. With that thought in mind, I wonder if this could be some sort of Venice transit cancellation. Just a guess, as I know very little about Italian postmarks.

17 November 1966Denmark - the Poorhouse in Copenhagen. A quick search doesn't turn up much about the poorhouse. Although the residents were described as 'inmates' in one article! Postmark is from Kalundborg, described as an industrial town, known for the country's largest transmitter and coal fired power plant. Now if it was a coal fired radio station, I could share a link to the hilarious former CBC radio show "The Great Eastern." Aw heck, let's do it anyway!

18th November (1936) U.S. Scott #U437, 3-cent purple on amber (best guess--unsure if the envelope is amber or oriental buff in color), postal stationery depicting a portrait of George Washington, postmarked on this date in 1936 in Tucson, Arizona. I think that this is a beautiful cover, both in terms of its design and the very clear strike postmark for "RED CROSS + ROLL CALL -JOIN-". Interestingly, this cover was sent from one stamp dealer in Tucson to another in San Francisco. I acquired this piece as part of an accumulation from the family of an old friend after he passed away a few years ago.
