October 14th, 2000. Classical cars from France. Issued as sheet in 2000, with face values that did not correspond to current postal rates, so you had to use many at a time. Postmark is from Amelie-les-Bains-Palalda, in the Eastern-Pyrenees.

7 kopecks Soviet PSE used as a blank locally in St Petersburg 2 years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. During this inflationary period, the PSE had been originally uprated to 6 rubles with the octagonal 05.93 meter (taking into account the PSE indicium for the letter rate valid from 15/5 to 10/8/1993). An additional rectangular meter for 907k was used to indicate payment of the 15 rubles charge (valid from 10/8/1993 to 10/1/1994) - the 7k PSE indicium is now disregarded.

Posted on 14 October 2014 in Portland, Oregon, this extremely valuable cover shows numerous examples of the ultra rare Inverted Kitty error. Only a handful of sheets of the Inverted Kitty were distributed, most of which were destroyed once the error was discovered. It seems that "Friends of 4449" must have purchased one of the few sheets that slipped through the cracks, and made liberal use of these stamps on this now highly desirable cover. The Friends of 4449 is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation of locomotive SP4449: SP 4449 was built in 1941 as a GS-4 “Northern” type locomotive. A 4-8-4 wheel arrangement. Retired to static display at Oaks Park in 1958, most thought SP 4449 would never run again.
In 1974, she was selected to pull the American Freedom Train throughout the United States, and was subsequently rebuilt. SP 4449 ran for three years to the delight of over 30 million people. She is arguably one of the most beautiful locomotives ever built.

Here is the first of a few with legible full dates from the lot of Machin's tonyvella sent me. October 16, 2007, too bad the rest of it isn’t all there, and I noticed rubber date stamps just smudge quite often. Some are great though, but they are rather large.

Pretty boring, but I finally got one. Usually, when I run into something interesting with a clear postmark to post in this thread, the date is for a week or two ago. At first it appeared like somebody trimmed all the perfs off prior to affixing to the envelope, but the paper on the "stamp" is pretty heavy. Maybe cut from a pre-stamped envelope, but I don't think this design came on a PSE. It did get it's contents to the destination.

Maybe cut from a pre-stamped envelope, but I don't think this design came on a PSE. An interesting mystery. I did not find a postcard with that design either in my catalog. Also noteworthy, the stamp was nominally issued in 1968 but the postmark is from 1983, so someone held on to this stamp for quite a while!
