Here is an early Canadian meter from 3 December 1928, postmarked in Toronto. If it looks familiar, that is because it was put up for auction in March 2016 and I was the lucky winner. So expect to see the other two in this thread too.
Royal Sterling Products was a broom maker, and it looks like in 1928 they were doing well. In this ad from The Ottawa Citizen of 27 September they were advertising for several first class whisk and broom makers. And bowling pin setter is probably a fine source of pocket money for a young lad.

December 4On November 25, 1960, Haiti issued a 1 gourde, green & black, perf. 10.5 stamp depicting the United Nations Headquarters in New York City to commemorate the 15th anniversary of that organization (Scott 469). Here is one of those stamps postmarked in Round Rock, Texas on this date in 2014.

I'd have been inclined top keep it in my album - mint. (It must have been hinged!)

...OK. You need to tell us more here. Why would a Haïtian stamp be postmarked from Texas? The Haitian stamp was affixed to the lower left corner of a large manila envelope sent to me by a collector/dealer. Here are the stamps that actually paid the postage for that mailing.

The artists's painting of himself titled "C. M. Russell and Friends" was featured on these 25 cent, multicolored, perf. 11 stamps commemorating the 100th anniversary of Montana's statehood (Scott 2401; Jan 15, 1989) that were postmarked in Indianapolis, Indiana on this date in 2017.

Unless 5's were printed oddly back in the day...

You are absolute right, off course it should be the 5th of December. I suppose I was a bit too fast - my intention was to clarify that the Swedish way of setting the date is, unlike in U.S, first the day of month, then the month and finally the year. Instantly I thought that was what Mich wasn´t sure about, not whether if it was a 5 or 6. Jens

Steve, a very interesting piece of postal history here; thanks for sharing! OK, is it just me, or thanks to the blotchy red cancellation, does it look like ol' George came out on the losing end of a bar fight or something? The poor guy looks battered and bruised to me....

December 11th, 2014. Postcard from Monaco to France, mailed as a Christmas thank you to Monaco stamp subscribers. Using the Christmas issue from that year obviously, and a nice postmark celebrating the recent birth of the twin children of the Prince.
