17 August 1954 French Equatorial Africa YV PA57,part of a series issued by 12 colonies for the 10th anniversary of the Liberation.Each colony printed 23,000 stamps. Postmark is from Brazzaville,AEF.  |

1st Class Machin, mailed from Tenterden, Kent Gt Britain. First "GT BRITAIN" I've seen on a cancel, as well as Tenterden. Never heard tell of that place before.

18 August 1966 GB SG700,issued in 1966 to commemorate a once in a lifetime event...England winning the World Cup !!! I remember buying copies of this stamp when it was issued at my local post office.People who never collected stamps bought sheets in the mistaken belief they would dramatically increase in value.Catalogue value today is 30p. This block was cancelled at Seabrook,Hythe in Kent on the day of issue.  |

Here is a charming postcard from Silver City, New Mexico, postmarked 19 August 1955.  "Dear Ida, I imagine you are back home getting ready for school. I still haven't thought much about it.I got A in both my courses - so that was welcome news. I am surely enjoying my trip in New Mexico. Yesterday we went to Juarez, Mexico and shopped. Then had dinner at the most beautiful supper club I've ever seen.I bought myself a black lace dress. Now I'll have to figure out where to wear it. As ever yours" |

Canada 13¢ dull violet Quebec Citadel. Issued December 1, 1932 with the King George V "Medallion" series. 5,017,000 were printed with two plates, imperforates and a red-violet shade are available. The RetroReveal image clearly shows the cancel. The letter was posted at Shoal Lake Manitoba on this day 85 years ago.
