October 15, 1946 more than likely...
Post-war Germany 24 pfennig definitive for use in the American, British and Soviet zones. Not quite as nice a cancel as yesterday's entry. Does anyone have a clue as to where this was cancelled? Just two letters to go by... Scott 544 : Michel 925

Germany 55¢ Flower, the self-adhesive version the Camellia, issued August 12, 2004, and posted at Mannheim. Scott 2294 : Michel 2416 Funny how Michel doesn't group the two versions (water activated gum & self adhesive) together in their catalogue (Junior 2011), but places the Memorial Church at Speyer between the two!

21st October (1865) Cape of Good Hope, Sc5b, 6-pence grayish lilac depicting the allegorical figure of "Hope" seated, with an anchor as a symbol of the colony, cancelled on this date in 1865, 155 years ago today. Notes: I am not 100% sure, but this may be the first COGH triangle to grace this thread. Full disclosure: I don't own this stamp. COGH triangles with legible date stamps are far and few between in my experience, and this one is an exceptionally clear strike, so consequently commands quite a high price. It is also my understanding from what I have read that this type of CDS (Circular Date Stamp) is actually a fiscal cancel. CDS postmarks on COGH triangles are even more rare. The most commonly found cancels on these stamps were done with a triangular obliterator, which came in two sizes. I will post something about those at some point in the future in the COGH Postmarks thread.
