Luxembourg Grand Duchess Charlotte 1944 definitives overprinted with a surcharge for aiding the people misplaced by war. Only issued used in this souvenir booklet. It must have been a time of great relief, but also grief. The war is over but now we must rebuild our country and our lives! Shown is the front and back cover with the stamps inside.
Scott unlisted save for a note : Michel 370-381
Scott note: Stamps of 1944, surcharged "+50C," "+5F" or "+15F" in black, were sold only in canceled condition, affixed to numbered folder for the benefit of Luxembourg evacuees.. Value for folder, $15.

A postally (!) used 5pf Paintings in the Dresden Gallery series, issued December 15, 1955. It shows the "Portrait of a Young Man" by Albrecht Dürer. Cancelled at the small town of Strausberg, east of Berlin.

Aneby 1960-11-10
Aneby is a small village in Småland that had a post office from 1874 until 2011. Postmark is type 60, readily recognized by the two triangles. The stamp is from 1957 from the second series depicting King Gustaf VI Adolf (Facit #421)
Göteborg 3 1959-11-10, Postmark Type 59. Stamp from the Tre Kronor issue. This one was issued in 1939 and were in use well into the 1960s.

Here is a bavarian stamp cancelled in Nürnberg (NUERNBERG) 13 years before the end of WWI.
It has Scott wmk 95h, Michel wz. 4
Scott 64 : Michel 57 I'd have to agree with mikeclevenger , that a great cancel makes the stamp!

13 November 1954 Gold Coast SG154,issued in 1954.The postmark is from Elmina.According to Wikipedia,this was the site of the first European settlement in West Africa.  13 November 1957 Bechuanaland Protectorate SG 145,issued in 1955.The postmark is from Francistown,the second largest city in Botswana.  13 November 1965 British Honduras SG208,issued in 1962 and with a postmark from Corozal.  |
