Canada, the new way of cancelling a stamp with a cheesy ink jet spray on. The first one shows the colourful houses of St. John's Newfoundland, perf 8.15, cancelled in Quebec, and the other shows a lighthouse in Prince Edward Island National Park, perf 8.5, cancelled in Mississauga. Both are from the "From Far and Wide" coil series issued January 15, 2018.

You'd think that years ago, with millions of pieces of mail being cancelled each day with the steel hammer, they'd be able to do the same today with a fraction being mailed. Progress huh?

brightonpete .. To me ,the new way of cancelling is very confusing.I would think it was 18 Dec 2005.It is so much easier if they abbreviate the month,for example Dec or De...makes it easier for old farts like me to distinguish a date..  Anglobob

anglobob We go by ISO 9001 (I think, there are so may codes for ISO) that puts the date as Year Month Day Time, largest to smallest. I like this format much more. No confusion as to whether it is the day or month.

Canada Twenty Cents Queen Victoria dressed in her "widow weeds", posted on this day 121 years ago today from Port Arthur, Ontario. In 1970, Port Arthur merged with Fort William to become Thunder Bay.

121 is dear to me, as it was the MOC (military occupation code) for Meteorological Technician (cloud counter) that was my entire career.

Netherlands from 2016, valued at 29 eurocents! That's the first time I've seen a value like that.
Also, another cheesy spray-on cancel from Canada, this time with the self-adhesive "P" (85¢) "Cozy and Warm" 2018 Christmas stamp showing a pair of socks. Sprayed on at the Toronto South Central depot two years ago in 2018 at 7AM.
