Here is a Swedish steam boat cancel, an Ångbåt. A nice one; usually they're slap-dash. This was the boat for summer commuters and the mail. It didn't go far, from downtown Stockholm to just past Lidingö, the first sizable island east to the archipelago. Boats run the same route 130 years later, but I never had the patience.

Gràcia (Barcelona, Catalonia) August, 13rd 1950. Ordinary DS of Gràcia on a cover and a card with an special mark of the "La Riera de Sant Miquel, stamps and coins exhibition" . Starting just as an street exhibition, this become an important one, lasting up to 1996. The exhibition commemorated the 100 years of the independence of the town of Gràcia, that was to last just from 1850 to 1897. Everything, is written on the, then compulsory, Spanish language.

West Germany 20pf Stamp & Flowers exhibition held at Köln (Cologne) June 8-10. I suppose they put the two together so husbands can get stampy and the wives can enjoy the flowers! Issued June 8, 1957.

German Empire 400 hundred mark Numeral issued in 1923, cancelled in Ludwigsburg Scott 202 : Michel 250, and the second show cover from StampShow 1979, held in Boston. They used the American Architecture series (1779-1782) issued on June 4, 1979 for these covers. Two more to come!

28 August 1951 French West Africa. 2 letters from two different colonies sent on the same day to the same business in Paris...with the same stamp YT 37 ,A 1947 issue. The first one has a postmark from Kandi,Dahomey. The second has a Poste Rurale Bouake postmark from Ivory Coast.   |
