Well, Mick, for what it's worth, I read the spray cancel the same as you do. I am not sure that I understand what the STATION part is there for. The other parts make sense, and I think that you have read them correctly. |

I love this tread - I've been silently admiring all the fine postmarks you guys been posting. This thread has inspired me to start another project:  A new section in the bookshelf! The postmark Calendar, spanding 6 volumes. The Vario Grande binders are spacious, so each binder has room for 20 years, with a dedicated spot for each day. I have simply arranged the pages with one week per line like this:  And here's this day half a century ago, and by coincidene it was on a Monday in 1971 just like this year:  15th November 1971, on Frederick IX definitive of Denmark. King Fredrick died a couple of months later The album page above is for now populated by Kind Fredrick only. Looks quite ok, however the idea is to use this calendar for a mix of stamps/postmarks from any country, just like in this thread. My only criteria is that in addition to the date, the place should be possible to identify - and I am only including small size definitives. This hobby is just getting better and better - now with even dated cancellations to look for! |

World Communication Year, a Norwegian stamp issued in 1983. Postmark is from Silsand. I would guess that 9370 stands for the postcode.

November 24, 1955. Stamp is part of the first series depicting King Gustaf VI Adolf and was issued in 1952. Postmark is from Ankarsrum, a small village located in the landscape of Småland. Cancel is a type 59.

December 8, 1997Stamp was issued in 1991 and is from a high value series (at that time) depicting various castles. Postmark is from the Post terminal of Alvesta, a place best known for its railway station. Cancel type is 59G.
