11 July 1888 Austria correspondence card with a postmark from Krosno which was in the province of Galicia and was returned to Poland at the end of WW1.  11 July 1892 Austria SC54 issued in 1890.The postmark is from Aussig,now Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic.  11 July 1895 Austria SC57,issued in 1890.The postmark is from Borgo di Valsugana which is now in northern Italy.  11 July 1903 Austria correspondence card with a postmark from Triest ,now Trieste in Italy.  |

13 July 1892 Austria 5 kreuzer from a letter card,with a postmark from Poisdorf,Lower Austria.  13 July 1906 Austria correspondence card 5 heller rate.The postmark shows Ober Grund an der B.N.B. I have been unable to find more information about this location.One possibility is that it is now known as Horni Podluzi in the Czech Republic.  |

14 July 1891 Austria SC54,issued in 1890.The postmark is from Troppau,now Opava in the Czech Republic.  14 July 1898 Austria SC55,issued in 1890.The postmark is from the small town of Kuttenplan,now Chodova Plana in the Czech Republic.This town is well-known for its brewery named Chodovar,famous for its Original Beer Spa.The beer soak spa treatment is reputed to have medicinal benefits..   |

July 17Postmarked in Ottawa, Ontario on this date in 1958. The stamps carrying this cover to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania are Canada's 1 cent violet brown (Scott 337) and 6 cent orange (Scott 342) QEII Wildings, issued June 10, 1954.

Today (20 July) in Canada's history:  Same-sex marriage was legally recognised nationwide with the enactment of the Civil Marriage Act in 2005. I just went to the post office located in Montreal's Gay Village to get this cancellation. (There are in fact 3 post offices in this neighbourhood; I picked the one that seems to me the 'gayest'.) |

July 21This Nigeria 2 shillings and 6 pence, green and black, perf. 14 stamp depicting Victoria Harbor was issued on September 1, 1953 (Scott 88). The stamp bears a Registered postmark placed on this date in 1955.
