Switzerland, Numeral series, 1882 - 1889 Scott Number 71 (granite paper), cancelled on November 16th, 1890 in Montreux, a Swiss municipality and town on the shoreline of Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps. It belongs to the Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut district in the canton of Vaud. Located in the centre of a region named the Vaud or Swiss Riviera (French: Riviera vaudoise).

Switzerland, Scott number 148 (granite paper) from the 1909 series, cancelled November 17th, 1910 in Solothurn, a town, a municipality, and the capital of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It is located in the north-west of Switzerland on the banks of the Aare and on the foot of the Weissenstein Jura mountains. The town is the only municipality of the district of the same name. The pedestrian-only old town was built between 1530 and 1792 and shows an impressive array of Baroque architecture, combining Italian Grandezza, French style, and Swiss ideas.

November 18, 1939 ... And, a British Field Post Office Cancel (Nr.40) was applied to a letter being sent to Mrs. G. Fox in Aylsham in Norfolk. It's early in the war and there is crown censor stamp in purple ink ... from examinor number 197. Edit

Depending on the context, Lake Zurich or Zürichsee can be used to describe the lake as a whole, or just that part of the lake downstream of the Hurden peninsula and Seedamm causeway. In the latter case, the upstream part of the lake is called Obersee ( 'Upper Lake'), whilst the lower part is sometimes also referred to as the Lower Lake (unterer Zürichsee), respectively.

It's a village, a district and a municipality in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. 18 November 1947. Sent to my dad in the United States from French-administered Allied-occupied area of southwestern Germany following World War II. The sender was likely one of his sources of German stamps. I recall Forum members helping me identify the stamps on this cover: they are in the Scott catalogue volume "German Occupation Stamps--Issued Under French Occupation--Rhine Palatinate." Scott 6N1 (2pf), 6N3-5 (10, 12, & 15pf), and 6N8 (24 pf). Each has a CV (used) of 30 cents.  |

November 19, 1870 .... and, while Paris is under Siege, a cancel is stamped on this tiny envelope to be sent by Ballon Monté to Mrs. Marwood in Whitby in Yorkshire, England. It probably was on board one of the three manned balloons that left Paris on November 24th.

November 20, 1931 ... and a duplex cancel was stamped on this cover from Henry L[ouis] Seibert of Lakewood, Ohio. It was being sent to a bookstore in Boston, MA. Lakewood is about 10KM west of downtown Clevland on the south shore of Lake Erie. Stamp: United States: Airmail Winged Globe Issued on February 10, 1930 5c, Violet Sc. C12  |

Switzerland, Numeral series, 1882 - 1889 (granite paper) Scott Number 73, cancelled on November 20th 1901 in Le Locle a municipality in the Canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
Locle is situated in the Jura Mountains, a few kilometers from the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is the third smallest city in Switzerland (in Switzerland a place needs more than 10,000 inhabitants to be considered a city).
Le Locle is known as a center of Swiss watchmaking, even cited as the birthplace of the industry, with roots dating back to the 1600s. The municipality has been home to manufactures such as Favre-Leuba, Mido, Zodiac, Tissot, Ulysse Nardin, Zenith, Montblanc, Certina as well as Universal Genève, before the latter company relocated to Geneva. The town's history in watchmaking is documented at one of the world's premier horological museums, the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle, Monts Castle, located in a 19th-century country manor on a hill north of the city.
