November 24th, 1919
Cover from Rostov-on-Don to Amboise, France through Novorossisk Port, 26 & 27/11/1919. Rostov-on-Don was still under the control of Denikin’s “Volunteer Army”, so the cover is franked with “Edinaya Rossiya” definitives (incl. 1R, under "South Russia" in Scott) to a sum of 1R 40k (according to Epstein in Post Rider #32, p.36, this is the intercity registered letter rate – 70k+70k – but it might also be the international simple letter rate, i.e 2x the domestic rate: see 1919 cover from Odessa franked 4x35k – Cherrystone, Jan. 1995, lot 2894. See also cover in Post Rider #29, p.60). Rostov was evacuated by the Whites on 25-26/12/1919 and captured by the Red Army on 8/1/1920.

NOVEMBER 25th Jersey Shore, Pa.
"Tobacconist" or "IN HASTE" cover Samuel Humes banker and merchant and of course a very prominent person in early Jersey Shore Pa.'s history. This has an inverted month slug in the cancellation device.
SAMUEL HUMES was born June 23, 1804 in Milton, Northumberland county, Pennsylvania. He was the third of six children born to John and Mary (Duncan) Humes, as follows: Mary, Martha; Samuel; Jane; Elizabeth and John. He was educated at the old Milton Academy, and clerked in a store for some time at Milton. About 1824 he formed a partnership with Samuel Lloyd, and carried on a general mercantile business Jersey Shore for three years. Mr. Humes then became sole proprietor and conducted the business alone until 1848, when his son, John Harvey Humes was admitted to a full partnership, which existed until the death of Mr. Humes, in 1859. The business was closed out in 1865. Mr. Humes was a director in Jersey Shore National Bank from its organization to the time of his death. He was also a director and stockholder in the Jersey Shore and Lewisburg Turnpike and Bridge company, afterwards known as the Jersey Shore Company. He was a Whig in politics, and served as postmaster of Jersey [Shore] for several years. He was an active and consistent member of the Presbyterian church and served as trustee in that organization. Mr. Humes was a self-made man in the strictest sense of the term [and] was highly respected by the community in which he so long resided. He was twice married, first to Ann, daughter John Baily, of which this union John Harvey, now a resident of Philadelphia, was the only child to grow to maturity. His second wife second wife was Rachel B. Humes.
The business in Philadelphia in the period:

I'm not home on my computer so I'm unable to post much from my phone but I seen Vasis's post an noticed it was sent to the states. It's a gorgeous cover in my opinion! If I were going to collect foreign (to me) covers and stamps I believe Russia would be it. Beautiful stamp designs and look so dignified and royal like. Also, I love Bavarian stamps too and do have a small collection of them.

Bishop`s Stortford, Hertfordshire. .... Australia had one of its sons. In March and April 1825, a number of buildings in Bishop's Stortford were set alight and caused great alarm in the town. A committee was formed and a £500 reward offered for information on the arsonist. Soon a number of threatening letters were received, warning in part that "Stortford shall be laid in ashes". Thomas Rees was arrested and found guilty on the charge of sending the letters, but not of arson. He was transported to Australia as a convict.

I have CFC = Culler Facer Canceller, (Toshiba) but the "B"? any ideas ? Maybe it's CFC8. referring to a machine model.

I think it`s an eight. Maybe they have 2 machines, A and B. A busy post office maybe they have 8 of them sitting in a row.

I think it`s an eight. Maybe they have 2 machines, A and B. A busy post office maybe they have 8 of them sitting in a row. I spent a while doing various Google searches, trying to find other examples of cancels done by Culler Facer Cancelers. I found a few, but none had any variation of "CFC" on the postmark. Looking at other (usually older) Aberdeen postmarks, I saw instances of a single numeral where the "CFC8" was on your stamp. All this is just "for what it's worth" as I am still very much a novice at this sort of thing.
