Oh Yes, Mod. Most definitely. I'll try to make reference to those in future, my aim here is to illustrate all emissions genuine or otherwise, For those that find them in their purchases, it gives them some reference to what they are and where they fit in the scheme of things. Most are listed in Michel and I'll try to give Cat Nos. It is the viewers prerogative to consider or discount them. They still have value in as much as identifying art etc on stamps / Labels. We will be one of the few forums that list them in context, rather than just Cinderellas.

Umm al Quiwain. 1972 International Airlines From Montgolfier to Concorde (Concorde in Air France Livery) From Wallpaper to Aluminium. Montgolfier was / is a paper maker, the company has survived till the present day, Penguins Emperor Penguins (Faux perforations) The need to "husband" the egg after mating, whilst Mum goes away to feed for 2 months, is so ingrained, one fellow (without a mate) sat on, and incubated a smooth rock for 68 days.

And I had to look up "peri peri", so this is the gift that keeps on giving ... In searching for that term, I discovered this restaurant not that far away: mozambiqueperiperi.com/I may have to explore the next time I'm in that part of town. Thanks, Rod!

And I had to look up "peri peri", so this is the gift that keeps on giving ... Oh yum delicious. I made a lucky find in the spice aisle once, peri-peri dried spice (not this brand, though). That stuff goes on and in everything now! On eggs, in macaroni, on the chicken that goes in the jambalaya, far tastier than salt & pepper for those with a tongue that tolerates some spice. For those wondering, it's a dried pepper and citrus mix, popular especially in former Portuguese colonies in southern Africa (Angola, Mozambique, Madagascar, etc.) Yum again. Ryan

Ryan, thanks for this! I will start keeping an eye out for it around here. I know it's hard to describe, but can you characterize how hot it is?
I ask because I'm dealing with a very elderly person in our family who has partially lost her sense of taste and so doesn't have much of an appetite anymore, and we're seriously trying to find things that might "brighten" her food (without sodium).

Ryan, thanks for this! I will start keeping an eye out for it around here. I know it's hard to describe, but can you characterize how hot it is? If you want to just shake some out into the palm of your hand and eat it up, you might end up rather unhappy for a while - at that concentration, it's pretty hot stuff, similar to a chili powder with a high content of cayenne. But when I add it to the macaroni & cheese, I add enough to change the colour of the surface before stirring it in. Yum. I suppose it's like most peppers - if it's well mixed, it doesn't seem too hot. But if you happen to get a single chunk of it on the waggly thing in the back of your throat, you're running around like a fool, looking for the ice water ... Ryan

Ryan, Thanks much for the reply! And your description of pepper-stuck-in-the-back-of-your-throat syndrome is spot on! [thumbs-up icon here]
I'll definitely keep an eye out for this sauce when I go to one of the more adventurous grocery stores on my circuit.
By the way, you probably know this, but, just in case: as I understand itm the heat in chili peppers is not water soluble, but is fat soluble. So, the best thing to seek out is milk, ice cream (or cream, or half-and-half), or even avocado, rather than water or beer. (But several beers could help you not care so much about it!)

Umm al Quiwain 1971 Kings and Queens of England (41 stamps , 3 labels) Possibly the largest Souvenir Sheet known to man, (or woman). 520mm x 200mm, or to those who prefer inches, 16" x 8" Interesting, the Union Jack is shown hung vertically , correctly (rotated through 90 degrees) If this had been the US Flag, it would have to be rotated, then turned over. Apologies if it plays havoc with slow downloads. Split scan to accomodate.

Someone's been shifting threads around, My Trucial States is now hidden in the bottom drawer Grrrr At least put a link under Middle East. If I can't find it, how are new members going to? ... Sorry Rod. I was just trying to add method to the madness of the forum's structure and thought that they would best be placed under the United Arab Emirates, the country to which they evolved. I thought that the forum's search function would be sufficient to allow members to find the threads but, given your concern, I have mved the Trucial States directly under the Middle East category. In the interest of full disclosure, I also moved sub-boards erroneously placed under Israel -- a primary reason for my restructuring of the category. For example, Aden Protectorate and South Arabian Federation were placed under Yemen following similar logic as that applied for the Trucial States. To eliminate concern, I'll elevate them in the hierarchy as well.

Thanks Steve, I can see your intentions are well founded, forgive me for being rattled, Indexing is a pet grievance of mine, with all forums, In my world every country would be given due respect, I can see wiki places Umm Al Qiwain under the Middle East So why do we have a separate thread volume for US and Canada? They should be both under North America. Scott has years of Philately behind it and has a correct indexing regime, Alphabetically. Ideally TSF should be similar, under the current regime, TSF new members have to search, (if they are au fait with that) or end up making posts off topic. I don't like geographic areas, nor do I like areas under "Empires" that's old Stanley Gibbons stuff, and should be kicked out. One should be able to scroll down and find "Aruba" under A, not a geographical area, Whack that under Carribean and there will be no readers. It may be, TSF and proboards are not set up sufficiently to adapt such an indexing, Maybe admin likes it this way so I'll endure a less than ideal system, and pull my head in As always, thanks for all you moderators hard yakka. Appreciated.

Umm Al Quiwain 1972 (Possibly Christmas) Illustrations from "Divina Commedia" by Dante Alighieri . (Dante's Inferno etc) Besides Huge Sheet forme, these stamps (35 in total) exist in Triptych form, each stamp bookended by Raphael's portrait of Dante from the artist's fresco Disputation of the Holy Sacrament in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican City and the right label is a quotation from the Divina commedia relevant to the illustration on the stamp. These Stamps are from a huge pane of (presumably 36) 35 stamps + Label Raphael's Dante. More reading, and every issue of a stamp with Dante at www.danteonstamps.com/ds/items/show/94

Great series of stamps! The steering wheel spinner knob (1900 Opel & De Dion-Bouton) made a comeback in the 1950s, perhaps better known as a suicide knob by the cool kids with their hot rods. But the backward-facing seat for extra passengers who would block the driver's view, that sort of fell out of favour .... Ryan
