What I collect: 20th Century US Stamps

Hi Guys/Gals, Am a US specialist collector 1898 - 2000 and love to create my own album pages! My idea of fun is to scan a stamp at 1200 dpi and count the dots on Washington's nose, or scrutinize a Canal Zone overprint for varieties. I like varieties so much, I have the Prexies, Great Americans, Prominent Americans, and Liberty series with almost every color shade, gum and tagging/tagging omitted variety available . I hail from Montana, and right now is my favorite time of year, when a guy can combine late fall fishing with our hunting season. Big hello to all, Blade PS - My favorite stamp is the one in my avatar (If I got it loaded right lol)

Welcome aboard Blade! USA is my main collecting area and I like all the varieties too.
Would like to hear more about the pages you make yourself and maybe see some examples. Do they have spaces for all the varieties you have?

Thanks for the welcome Dave, and yes the album pages I make are totally customized. I use a software called stamp album studio, and print on blank pages bought from lighthouse. Lets see if these images come out.

Welcome, Blade. I too am yet another US collector though more general US than anything specialized. Still, US is what I spend the vast majority of my time and resources on.

Hi Blade,
Nice looking pages. I like to get the varieties as you do. Guess I'll eventually have to get busy and create my own pages as you have. I do have some home made specialized pages for the Great American series and last weekend I started to go through what I had for the 1c Dorothea Dix, 1c Margaret Mitchell, and 2c Mary Lyon. Really all I'm doing is using the home made album pages for this series as a holding place for the different varieties I can identify. So many differences with perfs/die cuts, tagging size/brightness, paper brightness, ink color/shade, gum shiny/dull, etc.
Would like to see what your Great American series pages look like. And your Transportation series pages too!

Dave, Here are some examples from my Great American Series. The whole pages are a little hard to read so I blew up a couple of examples with lots of varieties. Nimitz and Red Cloud have 6 different types each! Everybody - Am I exceeding a bandwidth limit or etiquette with these large pictures? Some forums discourage posting huge pictures, and obviously I am new here.

Welcome. My main collection is also USA - MNH goes in my albums. Used is mostly for experimenting with using different soaking fluids etc. Very general collection no fly specking etc. I am just across the border in ND.

Hi, Blade:
Well, we joined TSF within a couple of days of each other. I have a question for you:
I used to have an HP printer/scanner combo machine which did scan up to 1200dpi as you mentioned in your intro post, but when my printer stopped working, I replaced it with another HP combo, but failed to realize until well after I got it that the resolution on the scanner now only goes up to 300dpi, which is a disappointment.
What make/model of scanner do you use? Any recommendations on the best value for money 1200dpi scanner?
Thanks,
