Still plugging away at sorting the foreign tub of stamps I recently acquired in the Rasdale auction. Nothing really worth a closer look at this point, but have been seeing some perfins and precancels and a few US PNCs and line pairs.

Here's a couple of interesting items I found in the tub in the last few days. Morocco 50 Centimes Note Unfortunately it's just the seal and not the whole envelope.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

not much stamping for me the next few days. Family coming for a visit from Indiana, so all those things I've been meaning to do around the house will get done in the next few days....
company is always good for that! LOL

Not much. We thought we'd had the radon problem in this house solved years ago, but it turns out the level in my stamp cave has been double the safe limit. So I've been doing what I can do upstairs, which is mostly inventorying. At least it's getting done.
We took the radon treatment out years ago because the problem appeared to have gone away on its own (which does happen) and the treatment tank sounded like somebody was disassembling a Yugo downstairs, so we were glad to have it out of here. I don't know why it came back. Maybe it liked it here. We've got a really good HVAC guy and a really good water treatment guy, and they will get on it when they can.
It's funny, I realized a few weeks ago that I hadn't been able to stay down there for hours on end like I used to. I wonder if the radon has been spacing me out?

So...I decided to empty one of the boxes of 17 of FDCs and what better place than on the table where I already have two other projects going! I'm kinda...sorta...going through 4,000 LP records for ebay and I have seven vintage laptops waiting on hard drives....again for ebay. Since my ADD really hasn't been kicking in to work on the records, I have felt like working on the FDCs. Like I said...one box....out of 17. I think I'm going to get another table cleaned off and start sorting these out by cachet (and non-cachet in another pile). Then I'll break the cachet down by single stamps, pairs, blocks of fours, plate blocks, airmails, and then everything else. At least until I figure out another way half way through the pile...
I'm going to venture to guess there are well over 1,000 FDCs there.
Anyone have any other ideas? I'll post a few of some of the better stuff over in the covers later. brookbam

With my printed custom pages, I am now organizing the stamps prior to actually mounting. As expected, I found a few errors after just a couple pages.

I originally came on here to get guidance on making my own stamp album pages and building my own collection up again. I've done pretty much everything but get my pages made.

I have been working on my Bermuda Parish cancellation collection this past week. It appears that I have just about found all of the reasonably priced items and now I have to rely on luck, or the willingness to write larger checks, to fill in the missing numbers. David Oh my gosh would I LOVE to see your collection! I’ve been trying to accumulate Bermuda material with the hope of going back and looking for cancels from all of the different post offices. If you have time would love to chat about these! Terri.
Here are scans of my Bermuda Cancellation Collection, for your viewing pleasure

Not quite as bad as I know what is in every box and why it is there and whether it is ebay or stamp collection. And *thankfully* I never get attached to the stuff that gets earmarked for ebay.
I wish I had a stamp den. I *could* have a stamp den once I sell the last big load of ebay stuff out of the main floor of the house. Then I could get semi-organized and actually get a den set up.
I'm getting there.
It's 20s, 40s, and 30s for the highs this week in eastern South Dakota. In that order. brookbam

My current stamping project is on hold until mounts are back in stock. Most sites say it will be a few more weeks before inventory is replenished. I'm thinking of either a) sorting out the thousands of extra German stamps, b) removing current US stamps from paper with Pure Citrus, or c) start printing pages for my next project (either Mexico or Japan).

Today the postman brought me seven complete GB Wilding booklets. These are the first complete Wilding booklets I've bought, and they're among the cheapest examples of their kind, but I'm delighted by them. My existing collection of booklet panes makes more sense now that I can see some of the panes stitched together in their original order, and the famous "bacon booklet" (SG No. N1, issued 22 April 1959, sponsored by the Bacon Information Council) is certainly now the most bizarre item in my stamp collection. If anybody fancies eating a bacon risotto or some bacon cakes, buy this inexpensive booklet (I paid £2.99), read the recipes, and get cooking!

Same here. We've got a whole bunch of stamps that we can't put away because the mounts that we need are out of stock. Hopefully, before we hit the next local show on April 16, we'll be able to get them.

My therapy is done for this month. I really took advantage of not having to be at some appointment this morning and laid in bed until mid morning. Then I got up ate, did my exercises and got dressed in my lounging clothes. And the best part I lounged over my albums all day putting in 2022 stamps. I am not done with them but got a good start. I am looking forward when that’s finished to start sorting more stamps that I got at an auction almost a year ago. Have fun stamping everyone.

Printing several more pages for my used Q.E.II collection, so far I've gotten as far as 2003 (commemoratives only). Running out of mounts & the cards I was using to make certain mounts of my own. Not much doing with my specialist Machins lately so I've also been checking the internet for missing items from my main collection. Wrote a list of 16 lots from my next local stamp auction which takes place on the 15th April & may be worth bidding on. Viewing takes place the week after next so looking forward to that as there are plenty of interesting items to look at even if I won't be bidding on them .

I attended the BESG webinar with Hugh Jefferies. Hugh came across unpretentious (the ivory tower was mentioned) and once allowed to speak in his slower casual style, it became more enjoyable.
Much of the discussion was about color and shades. This is an area I tend to avoid because of many reasons mentioned in the webinar. He admitted in some cases specialists are more expert in some areas because they have many more samples to use as reference.
He said he was open to adding new material (something about Aussie State perfins) but not about going back to fix some aspects. It should be no surprise that catalog makers are often reluctant to correct sins of the past since it would often upset collectors and dealers especially around catalog number changes.
As I heard it, SG did not have the resources to update the SG Specialized QEII catalog. He did not up to date on the Deegam catalog work. A lot of work was disrupted by COVID.

Lots of Colnect work the last couple nights off I have had. Lots of new issues for 2023 added, and classical-era Spain is getting a major buff as a contributor is adding a bunch of variants (mainly shades) listed in the Gibbons Spain regional catalogue, slowly going through the submissions and cross-referencing with Edifil and the other big 4 catalogues, which makes for slow going but at least all IDs will be done from the start this way (and correcting a few errors in the base catalogue in the process)

Still sorting the 'tub'. Found a few interesting cinderellas - A Goldwater Trading Stamp, S.A.G. St. Anthony Guide, and a Top Value Stamp - and a few more perfins and precancels.
I freed up some space in the stamp room by consolidating the remainders into 4 small shoeboxes and getting rid of the tub. Makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere with the sorting process. Hope to have it all done by the end of next week, if work and life don't get in the way.
Spent most of this morning trying to get tickets for Queen with Adam Lambert - they are coming to Chicago at the end of October. Wasn't able to get them through Ticketmaster (they don't give you the option of just taking best available anymore, you actually have to select your seats, PITA, and kept getting told someone already got those seats), so we just bought them on TickPick.

My family flew back to Michigan yesterday, just in time for me to tidy up the end of the month invoices for sales on Stamporama.
Deeeeelighted to see Firstfrog stopped by to say hello in the shout box! Always nice to see members drop in! And happy to see so many new member introductions, too. The forum is thriving!
The USA booklet varieties kept me busy during my little bits of free time this week. I didn’t realize I was missing so many or had so few in my stockbook. Scott doesn’t assign them individual numbers, but Michel does. I’m still not done compiling a complete list of the ones I hope to find and I notice that Colnect doesn’t have all the varieties listed, either. That sounds like a good project for me down the road when I have good copies so I can submit a decent picture.
I think I’ll work on what is left of my New Zealand next. That’s one of the countries I dropped when I decided to cut back. I’m now down to seven major areas (USA, Ireland, Japan, Austria, Venezuela, Vatican, Scandinavia) and that’s plenty. Anyways, I thought I had most of the kiwis ready to trade or sell, but then I found half of a red box more. I’m usually fairly organized, so those were a surprise find! I put a few up for trade in the trading section here if anyone is interested.
Happy stamping!

Quick Preview Stampy Weekend PlannedGreetings, all! I hope this post finds you all happy and as well as can be. I am OK, although admittedly a bit "missing in action" lately here on TSF. I have been waylaid by some time-sensitive job requirements, but I am happy to report that all of the work got done by the deadline today, and I am planning to do some stamp activities this weekend. I have been missing it! Next for me is to think over what I am going to work on over the next couple of days and make a more substantive post tomorrow morning. Like others, I was also delighted to see a post from Frog ( firstfrog2013) in the Shout-box. I hope maybe you will tell us a bit more about your "quiet collecting" over the past couple of years.... I am very tired right now, so best to do something mindless for a while. More tomorrow. Stay stampy, all!
