Simple... post a quick note and tell us what you did today with your stamp collection. There's no right or wrong in it just collectors sharing their passion!
My stampy activity on yesterday was virtually nill. I did get a few things arrive in the mail yesterday - most notably a lot of 56 coil line pairs from the US Transportation Series of definitives and a wonton lot souvenir sheet singles via trade to fill a few spaces. My activity with stamps was put on hold yesterday to watch the Presidential election results but now that the election cycle has ended it's back to sorting... I'll fill y'all in on the sorting (it's a looooong story) over the next few days.
So... what did YOU do with YOUR collection today?

Today I continued flyspecking stockbooks. It is a very slow process but I have made some headway.I've been adding everything I've gone through into a priority box which is currently about half full.I retrieved a couple nice things from post office but behaving I just added them to the top layer of my incoming Frog box(seems someone sent me this nice handmade box)The unfortunate part is to maintain progress I've just been making a stack of interesting finds that will need further attention,a second loupeing and mounting.

Well, I'm just about to sort through some modern stamps on paper that a co-worker saved for me. Maybe one or two can be shown in the postmark calendar. I have tomorrow off as a staycation day, though, so maybe I will do more then.

Going through duplicates for a color study. Too much of this causes one to go cross eyed and start pounding of head against wall LOL.

Yesterday's mail brought my way a couple of nice gems... a US Sc #9 & #17. Time wasted filling those spaces? Zero. My first album page is starting to look pretty good! ... and today's post box goodie was a US Sc #3410 - Exploring the Solar System ... and finally I spent about an hour this evening better organizing my covers - still need a few more hours on that project but it'll be so much nicer once completed. Glad to see so many folks gettin' stampy with it.

I`m usually busy with my Centennials(Canada) checking them with a magnifying glass. Looking for printing varieties.

I've done almost nothing with my stamps for the last few months, so my drying books were full of stuff that's been sitting for a long, long time. The other day I finally went through them and sorted all the stamps into their correct country piles. I'll start soaking again in a day or two once I get some other stuff out of the way - yay, I love soaking! ha ha

I completed a re-organization of my covers on yesterday evening and packaged up a few envelopes of trades this morning to get in today's post. This week's stampy time will be back to sorting. I've got a boatload of blank spaces in my US collection from 1995-2006 that are mostly definitive stamps. I have the stamps, it's a matter of sorting them into their varieties and types and getting them into those spaces. A long winded project to say the least but very enjoyable at the end of a work day to sit quietly and be stampy.

Well I've been adding so much material that I'm printing more pages today as I mount the discoveries from the stockbooks.I can see the winter project will consist of adding a separate binder between the admirals and Mufti issues. When I think back to younger days that would have amounted to maybe eight pages in my Minkus Canada album.I see I'm also running out of mounts again, time to go look at lots of them for sale.I really must think about more shelving in the stamp room.Maybe time to empty it out and start fresh.I wish I knew a carpenter.Oh yea that would be me, good thing my workshop is ten feet away.I never thought one country collection would be so expansive, live and learn.

I sorted through all the stamps in my drying book and put those away in the proper place. Usually they just get put in a pile. And I worked on mounting more of my USA collection. I am up to the year 1985. Yippie only 31 more years to go. I am hoping to get my USA sorted and mounted this winter then I will be able to work on my JFK and triangle collections.

I've finally gotten around to begin identifying, cataloging, scanning and mounting stamps received from one of the giveaways that bobby1948 held in September. Due to his extreme generosity, I'll likely be working on this batch come Spring.

Cataloging the complex world of Russian Zemstvos - maybe something on them later?? Lots of new books/catalogs coming in - I might even get to know something about this hobby some day. Reviving some old interest in the world of German Notgelds - fascinating ephemera - stay tuned for some pics.

Sorting my way through a stack of modern (1960s onwards) Syria. Lots and lots of 'plain looking' (you might even say dull) definitives - but I kind of like them.

I finished cataloguing my Austrian stamps and mounting them in my worldwide album. Spent a couple of evenings at it but in the end, only added 120 stamps. Very happy about it though!

Oh! And I did a complete rewrite of my stamp inventory program. It's a program I wrote to take new additions and add them my an inventory database with minimal typing. That was a lot of fun.

I put my Niagara postal history exhibit away. That entailed putting all the covers back on their respective album pages, updating a couple of those pages with new information I found while putting the exhibit together, and creating new pages to house the new pieces I had acquired for the display. Now everything is where it's supposed to be.

Today I'm working through some older Romania that I bought at a club auction. When I first started collecting I poo-poohed those eastern block countries like Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary but I find the earlier stamps to be quite fascinating. Up until the first huge 'art' or 'flower' issue. As an adult I learned that my family originally came to Canada from Romania, so I should really pay more attention to the history of that area too.

I am still away from home during the holidays, but took some stamps with me to work on as time permits.
I have a big backlog needing soaking, which is a direct consequence of getting so much material from old collections. Lots of hinge remnants there!
Also working on early Austria, where I have way too much material to sort through. I really want to finish so that I can move on to another country!

I bought a large packet of Denmark at my last club meeting and am working through it slowly. Not too many stamps to add to my collection (maybe a dozen) but lots of great postmarks to add to my postmark calendar*
*the calendar is brand new, inspired by this board. As I fill it in I'll add to the thread on the board too.

Working my way through a bunch of Congo (Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Katanga, Zaire etc) stamps. Have already added about 100 stamps, and hopefully will manage to add few dozen more.

I am a bit discouraged, going through my volume one it is again time to move and remount quite a few pages. The pages displayed in Funky Frog Collection thread show three stamps per page on many pages, which are going to become the now normal one per page.Between printing pages and remounting not much actual progress is made in any real direction other than adding more varients of same stamp.I still have about eight stockpages of mostly used blocks to check against my current ones.It takes time to locate each issue in the twelve volumes.(or is it more now?)I have a large envelope of private perfins to check as well and that too takes some hours.A constructive thing to do would be an actual want list notebook if I can find time for that.

One per page should eliminate the need for any further reshuffling. Maybe you can make your want list while you're doing the remounting.

It is good that I didn't include "stop impulse bidding" in my New Year's resolutions. My latest distractions are these Great Britain perfins that I recently acquired for a whopping $0.99. If I sell them I might be able to afford to buy a few sections of the GB Perfin Society's catalog.

To me, that's amazing....
I have just been gone on a Caribbean cruise right after New Year's, which is why I have been recently silent on TSF. I did make a few acquisitions along the route, and I am working on putting together my first giveaway with some of those stamps. More to come....

I've been playing around with stamps from Czechoslovakia. A packet from a club auction, part of a collection I bought 5 years ago, plus the few I already had catalogued.
I used to think that Czech stamps (and all Eastern European issues) were wallpaper and not worthy of being collected. But for some reason they really appeal to me now. The first issues are crazy Art Noveau tableaux and even the 1960's space issues have a kitschy appeal. I've really been enjoying the past few evenings with them.

...Wow, nice going, Steve! I can't believe that you got these 27 stamps for $0.99. To me, that's amazing.... I couldn't believe it either, especially as most are in good condition. Unfortunately, I was only able to fill two holes in my Great Britain collection -- the others now reside in a stock page, waiting for me to do something with them. I almost forgot, I spent the last two days adding Reunion material to my collection. If I'm lucky, some day I'll complete one of the Reunion pages in my Scott International...

Today was a day of recovery. When looking at my Great Britain spreadsheet in anticipation of bidding on several items I noticed that all of the catalog numbers higher than 138 had been changed to read 138. Fortunately, I found an older copy of the Excel file I use to track my worldwide collection and was able to get everything back in order. The good coming out of this experience was that it prompted me to back up all of my files to the 1 TB drive I got the last time my computer crashed. I was also able to get the spreadsheet corrected in time to submit my bids and was successful on five of the 6 lots I was interested in.

I've been working backward on listing stamps. That is starting from Zanzibar and moving backward. I had a whole red box full ready to scan and list. It took me about a month to get all in the box and scanning is time consuming. I figure in a few weeks it will be empty and I can pick back up with R countries. This also means while ID'ing them to file my duplicates. Duplicates, maybe I'll toss some up for grabs in a few weeks.
