This morning, I went to the stamp market, bought a few used Finnish stamps. There was also someone who was bringing an album full of Barcelona 1992 Olympics issues from African countries and Guyana. As one of my collecting topics is my city on stamps, I bought 23 min-sheets showing diferent landmarks of Barcelona. Among them, there was this:
That shows the very square (Plaça Reial) were I was buying it!
On the stamp. it can also be seen the old monastery (XII century) of Sant Pau del Camp (Saint Paul on the fields), not too far from the Plaça Reial and that I visited too arond 12 pm today...
Yesterday, in Internet, I ran into the postcard from wich the above mini-sheet was taken...

That mini-sheet is gorgeous, cursus. It took me right back to my visit to the market in 2016, when I didn't know the stamp market existed. Imagine my delight when I stumbled into the square and saw all those tables full of stamps and albums and supplies! 💖 ---- It's a rainy weekend at home, so I spent last evening finishing album pages for Australia definitive issues. I'm only finished "for now", however, as I omitted the Roos and KGV heads since I don't have many, and stopped before the International Post series in the late 1990's. Rather than going to bed, I picked my next mini-project. Volume 2 of my Sweden album. Stamps from 1959 - 1969. I had made the pages in AlbumEasy last winter but never used them. So I printed out the 37 pages and if the weather doesn't clear, will begin mounting stamps today. I sure hope I did a good job last winter. I should track how many pages I need to reprint due to design errors. 😁

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This week I bid on a stamp lot in an online estate auction. It was a bit of a flyer with very few photos but the volume of material looked to have potential. It was a 50 kilometre round trip but with a Sunday morning pickup time I took a chance that I would not be stuck on a highway parking lot. Just over an hour there and back. It appears the owner belonged to a stamp club. His duplicates are mounted in 4 binders with each stamp priced that could be taken to swap meets. I will start first on the larger Traveller album and hopefully I will find enough world wide hole fillers to cover my modest investment. UPDATE: 2 smaller binders are Canada mostly mint with face value likely over what I paid for the lot. I am a bit overwhelmed with Canada postage in the .17 to .32 era now so may wholesale some well below face value if anyone is interested.

I've been dividing time between finalizing my scans of the latest batch of France Semeuse millésime stamps from wvgm3, going down the computer program code rabbit hole (I'm making progress, but now would not be a good time to even race snails...) and household/yard chores, which soon the rains will dictate what I do and when I'm able to do them. Shortly I hope to start a submission for the newsletter on the paper types of early 1900s France stamps, as I now believe I have images of all. I have searched for writings about this, but it seems most are relegated to (at most) a few paragraphs, and few if any images. Then I can hopefully turn my attention to color. I do have some stamps en-route, all from 'over the big waters' so no telling how long till they arrive. A few specific stamps needed to fill holes/complete a series, and then the small lots which might contain a variety I need, but in most cases, I already have dupes of most all the stamps coming in lots. One is on pages, so soaking is soon to be on the marquee. I am now once again up-to-date on all my 'puppy shots' with the exception of RSV, which is by appointment only. and so it goes Keep on stamping!

hdm1950 , what a fun lot! Although I know what you mean about being overwhelmed with Canadian duplicates. The charity work I'm assisting with these days leaves me loaded down with the same era of Canadian stamps. It's a reminder of how many people kept small collections into the 1970s and 80s. And how long it takes to give away 1000+ flag definitives. One day I will pick up a red traveller album, just for the memories. It's the first album I ever owned and also the one I disposed of when I became an "adult collector".

After several hours of reading tutorials, chasing down extensions, modules and applications for bridging, between basic and Python coding language I need to take a break and go back to scanning. (it's almost like weeding in the garden)
This I know how to do!
According to eBay I have some stamps out for delivery... I didn't realize I had gotten so 'buy happy'. I have 9 different orders on their way. Receiving something in mail beside junk will be a nice diversion.
Keep on stamping!

I recently acquired Scott IRC3 for my U.S. International Response Coupon collection. Only two remain for completion: IRC5 and IRC6. And for the umpteenth time, I won a stamp on eBay that was advertised as being U.S. Scott O125 -- hopefully this one will have been properly identified.

I once had the dream vacation of a lifetime. I was on assignment in Ingolstadt, Germany while working for Audi engineering. The work came to an end and I had two weeks of vacation that I could use while I was there. Good fortune descended upon me when my counterpart offered me a chance to put some miles on a new Audi Turbo. I couldn't say yes fast enough but the best part was when he also handed me a corporate gasoline card which put the frosting on the cake for that vacation. I traveled through the Black Forest, Northern Italy, the Austrian Alps and finally through the Swiss Alps while staying at pensiones every few nights. It was the best vacation I've ever been on while by myself not to mention the sheer joy driving one of Audi's most magnificent cars of that time while viewing some of the grandest vistas on earth. OK this is the connection to what comes next.
During this past summer, I casually (and unexpectedly) placed a bid on a large used early Switzerland auction lot and to my surprise won it with my opening bid (first time ever). It turned out to be a formidable accumulation with a lot of surprises in store. The biggest surprise was the sheer number of SON CDS cancellations from some of the most obscure cities, towns and Hamlets in Switzerland I’d never heard of. Winning the auction sparked a new collecting path from my British Empire collections which are generally Mint unless economics or availability dictate a used copy here and there.
I’ve always admired used stamps with clear cancellations both for their validity of purpose as well as possibly revealing a historical trail. Such used copies; however, are the exception and not the rule in the philatelic world and much more difficult to assemble with high quality cancellations which is why I’ve always collected mint singles (lazy). I'm very fussy about the appearance of stamps in my collections whether mint or used. I have no use for CTOs from anywhere, I see them as philatelic novelties that died a stillbirth without fulfilling their intended destiny.
This brings me to my new used Switzerland accumulation which has been more fun than I’ve had in years playing with the many and obscure locations on these clearly cancelled stamps. I’m anxious to share them in the ‘Today’s Postmark’ thread over the next months.
I'm also in the hunt for Swiss 19th century Postal History. I’ve since purchased a DAVO Switzerland hinge-less album from 1852-1944 that I’ve largely completed and since become a member of the American Helvetia Philatelic Society. I think Aaron (kasvik) is a member (?)
A specialized segment of Switzerland that fascinates me are the Tete-Beche and Se-Tenant issues. I have quite few now and am trying to make sense of the myriad combinations. Not sure which of the several specialized Switzerland catalogues would best address them (Zumstein)? Rob

Welcome to the Swiss stamps fan club! For me, the Zumstein catalog is the catalogue of choice. Having worked for Audi-Germany, I guess that you understand German. The Zumstein is bilingual German-French.

I originally thought I would first tackle the main album from the estate collection I picked up Sunday but instead I found my self looking through the few envelopes which produced a some interesting items I have shared already. Last night I decided to tackle a plastic box with loose world wide. The box was partitioned and the owner had the stamps sorted somewhat alphabetically. The dining room table soon got covered with stacks by country. All the British America are finding their way into a small stock book and countries with just a few stamps will go onto stock sheets. Larger countries will go back into the box each in their own compartment until I start on the larger album. When I start picking the albums I can also check if there is anything amongst the loose stamps. I am sure we all have done this type of sort many times. Hours fly by just getting ready before a stamp is ever mounted. NOBODY SNEEZE!

Celebrated My TSF 8th Anniversary TodayGreetings, stampers everywhere! This will be a short post, as it is a mere Tuesday, after all. Today marked 8 years since the day I joined the Forum: 19th November 2016, and for some odd reason, I felt compelled to celebrate that. I am not really sure why, as it isn't anything I can recall mentioning in my posts before. I also noted that I didn't make my intro post until 22nd November. Anyway, I was just reflecting today on how much I have enjoyed my time on TSF over these past 8 years and how many friends I have made in the process. It is safe to say that joining TSF has changed my life. And the beauty of it is that all of you have, therefore, played a part in that. So, thank you all so much for all you have given me over these past 8 years, and here's to many more to come! Stay TSF stampy, all!

I’m due to make a150 mile trip to Largs Philatelic Society to give a presentation of my “Counterblaste to Tobacco” exhibit.
…..We have had 3 days of below zero centigrade ( <32F for you guys over there ) and some snow for part of my drive south with even lower temps expected for my return late tonight ……. Still thinking , should I risk it or cancel ? … don’t have winter tyres these days .
