I spent the afternoon in Algeria and added about 50 stamps to my collection. I'm now next door in Tunisia and hope to have similar success. I feel like a giveaway will be coming soon!

I spent today posting a bunch of covers on eBay to sell. Kinda fun because I tried to do a bit of basic research on each for selling points. And since they are not my countries of interest, I think/hope I learned something!

Spent the morning moving three inches of slushy mess, yea the kind that sticks to the shovel. Now I think it's time to do the unsavory part of stamping;paperwork! I really need to set up an inventory book and a complete want list. The want list is the most complicated as I've branched into so much other than just postal issues.I have so many lists in so many notebooks from previous attempts it's absolutely crazy.Maybe I'll reward myself with a little mounting when the paperwork gets boring. My wife is busy right now cleaning my stamp room, man I love that girl!

A good day today -- added 3 more pairs to my Ohio Prepaid Sales Tax Receipt collection.
I bought a four-stamp lot thinking that only one would fill a hole but once I was able to compare the paper colors it turned out that two others were also needed.
All were printed by Reserve Litho; one replaced a consumer's receipt and the other two filled voids.
It is getting far more difficult to find needed material online.

Today, I revisited several US flat-plate coil stamps in my collection that I had been told were trimmed fakes. By using genuine certified copies to compare perforations, height, and plate size, I was pleased to find that two of them (#351,#355) appeared to be legit. The stamps and I are happy that they were rescued.

Glad to hear it, Carlberky! It is always satisfying to rescue some stamps thought to be fakes and determine that they are not, after all! I had a similar experience when I first joined TSF late last year, and I was helped by Falschung and Big Blue to determine that many more of my 1919 Russian Army of the North issues turned out to be genuine than I had thought.

Czechoslovakia is cleaned up and put away. Same with Switzerland. Tonight, all the French sowers and Marianne issues that seem to have invaded every stockbook I own are getting pulled out and given a proper clean and sort. But first I need to read a few more threads on TSF.

I am still trying to get through Austria, and I keep getting slowed down by finding more stamps that came out of other collections that need soaking and drying, and it all just takes time. I will post more photos of these stamps in the Austria Classics thread tomorrow.

Slowly but surely. The only thing going for me is I have a table where I can keep everything laid out. That and I didn't really have a lot of Czech and Swiss stamps in the whole scheme of things. In all seriousness though, I seem to spend years waffling over my process, album choice, organization, etc. So the fact that I've done 4-5 countries the same way is real progress.

Today I'm tackling an extremely large mess of modern Canada to see if I'm missing used copies/used blocks. While I'm quite familiar with early issues I find myself really unsure of years just by looking at them.It takes some time to catalog them and then find the right volume that contains them, flip through to the right page and sadly more often than not to discover they already reside there. That want list would certainly come in handy now. What else would you do on a snow blizzard day? Needless to say anything that I don't need is going into that famous box.

Last night and today are soaking, soaking, and more soaking! I have a lot of material from old mounted collections, and there a lot of stamps with hinge remnants, so heavy in some cases that they will not lie flat in the album as-is, so off I go!
When I get tired of soaking for today, I will transition back to classic Austria and try to finish up some of those pages so that I can move on to something else.
It feels good to get back to stamping again! This has been my first real day in weeks.

Among other things, I collect USPS souvenir pages (got them off ebay) and now going through the duplicates since I ended up getting several collections.
Plus I posted the latest USPS stamp announcements here.

...Plus I posted the latest USPS stamp announcements here. Where did you put them? I spent much of the day identifying about 200 different Argentina...almost every stamp required watermark determination. Have one more glassine to work through and am hopeful that the Ronsonol won't see much use.

I just returned from a long weekend vacation. I was so missing my stamps :-). Shared a few pics from my collection on Instagram (in case there is any interest, I am theamateurphilatelist on IG). Lately I have been trying to sort out my pre-independence India into an album and I have run out of mounts. Thinking of ordering those this week to get back to my album. Still too many blank spaces to fill though.

Manish consider bidding on ebay auction mount lots.I often buy large assortments with so many sizes I never run out.Usually you end up paying about $3-4 per pack this way.The outlay may be $100ish but man the variety of sizes sure come in handy.

As soon as you start talking about your stamps the same way as you talk about your friends and loved ones, you're there! Welcome to the club, as I have already been doing it for years.
I miss my stamps so much when I am away, that I now almost always bring some stamps with me to sort or organize or do something with, even when I am on vacation or business travel. Now my separation anxiety is cured!

There are eBay auctions for mounts too??? Wow, didn't know that. Will try to find them. Once upon a time ("back in the old days"), mount kiloware (mixes of various mount sizes, sold by weight rather than by count) used to be sort of common on eBay - I would regularly troll through the eBay philatelic supplies listings, looking for good deals on stockbooks or 102A cards or red boxes or whatever, and I would see mount kiloware once in a while. I just did a search on eBay for "mount kiloware" and mostly found listings for Lindner mounts in pre-packaged weights, but they all use the same stock photos and none of them gave me much of an idea as to what was inside. Another quick internet search turned up this photo from a site selling Prinz mounts by weight, and that at least had a photo that gave some ideas as to what sort of mix you might find inside. I'm down to my last 15 Argentine departmental stamps and hope to wrap them up tomorrow!
Today's mail brought a few more Ohio sales tax stamps and two covers that I had sent in to receive inauguration day cancels.

Edith, check your local library for a Scott's catalog. There are other catalogs as well but most libraries will carry the Scott's catalog for postage stamps.A useful tool to identify your stamps.

Hi, Lila, and welcome to TSF! As Frog said, Scott catalogues really have a lot of information in them on stamps of many kinds.
By the way, what do you mean by "unadhesive" stamps? Just wanted to be sure that I understood what you are looking for.
Thanks!
