The below was just received from Scott English, the Executive Director of APS.
Year End Giving
What a year to be a collector! In 2016, the American Philatelic Society and American Philatelic Research Library were part of some incredibly historic moments in the hobby. We took center stage in the world of collecting in May as we welcomed the international collecting community to the once-in-a-decade World Stamp Show-NY 2016. In June, we made international news when we recovered Position 76 of the famed McCoy Block of the Inverted Jenny. We celebrated our 130th anniversary in September. In October, we opened the world’s largest philatelic library and convened a Summit on the Future of Philately in Bellefonte. Hopefully, you could enjoy these moments, all of which are made possible by generous members like you.
We start 2017 with more energy and enthusiasm in the collecting world than we’ve seen in years. Now is the perfect time to help grow the hobby and raise the bar for 2017.
With just a few days left in the year, you still have a chance to help the APS and APRL bring 2016 to a strong finish and help us expand services and promote the hobby in 2017. Both the APS and APRL are 501(c)(3) organizations and your donations are tax-deductible. If you donate by December 31, you will be able to deduct your donation with your 2016 taxes.
What will you be investing in?
Membership Growth: Support programs like the Ambassadors program, to strengthen the hobby’s grassroots efforts and promote APS services.
Better Technology: Bring much-needed changes to the APS website and do direct outreach to collectors on the internet. We received a digital challenge from WSS-NY 2016, which offered to match up to $25,000 in donations. So, for every dollar you give, we will receive $2 to support the effort.
More Collector Education: Bring stamps to the classroom by supporting Stamps Teach for young collectors or more educational opportunities for adult collectors.
Hobby Promotion: Help us unite and promote the hobby through our Council on Postal Collectors, which has also received a $25,000 matching challenge to work with philatelic groups to promote the hobby.
Not only are your donations tax-deductible, but when you donate to the APS, you become part of our annual recognition issue of The American Philatelist in April. Thank you for helping make 2016 such a memorable year and we ask you to join us again in our efforts to support collectors and promote the hobby in 2017. Thank you!
Please consider giving $20, $50, or $100 at this webpage. You can give more if you’re able and the money will make a big difference in 2017!
