Hello from Anping, here in the UK.
Hong Kong is my primary collecting interest, along with Aden and states (but has been on the back burner for a long time).
My Hong Kong collection encompasses just about everything up to the handover to China in 1997 and has been assembled over 30 years.
I collect mint and used of all reigns, Treaty Port cancels, China overprints and fiscals, Japanese occupation and the strange and curious.
I also collect postal history, fakes and forgeries, postcards and slogan postmarks.
I do take a particular interest in provisional overprints.
Hopefully, I'll be able to offer my opinions as well as learning from those on this board.

Welcome to TSF, Anping! Sorry for being late to the party, but I Was travelling yesterday when you posted your intro.
I am a WW classical period collector, but I have a real soft spot for Victorian issues, and Hong Kong, especially the overprints and surcharges, are amongst my absolute favourites. I am really looking forward to seeing some of your collection.
Once again, welcome, Anping!

Funny you should mention that, I bid on about a dozen eBay 'high end' auction lots from the same seller last week, in the hope I would win at least 3 or 4. Well I was significantly outbid on all of them. So much for those collectors who think it ridiculous to pay more than 20% of catalogue value for their wares. Those Hong Kong lots sold for a minimum of 50%; some as high as 80%. And there's me tolling the bell of doom and gloom for the future of collecting.

Over the past 10-20 years, there is no question that interest has risen dramatically in stamps of China and Hong Kong, and prices have gone up accordingly. I imagine that it is due directly to the huge economic development in China and that people there today have much more disposable income than they used to.
The only way that I have been able to acquire classic China or Hong Kong material recently without paying a big premium for it has been to get it as part of a larger collection or mixture of classic material. I got a couple of nice stamps that way at about 10-15% of SCV.

Anping don't feel alone I've been trying to fill a few holes in my Newfoundland, they too often go above the 80% mark for MH. And I thought philately was a dying hobby. The only thing dying is my budget.
