Where to start with Austria? so many beautiful stamps, perhaps we start with Santa Claus Christkindl In Germany, Christkindl, or the Christ Child, brought gifts to children on Christmas Eve. Christkindl is depicted as a child riding a mule and was believed to enter homes through keyholes. Christkindl stamp: And the lovely ladies that get run off their feet at Christmas, with all those letters to Santa The Christkindl Post Office.

According to my Scott catalog, the Christkindl Church depicted on the stamp shown above would again be featured on an Austrian stamp in November 2006 (Scott 2074).
I don't have the 2006 stamp but I'm hopeful that one of our members will be able to share their copy with us.
