What I collect: US Classics, Costa Rica Bernardo Soto Series 1889

Post by jrodriguex on May 3, 2017 4:19:20 GMT
Hello! My name is Jessica. I am a collector of US Classics and Costa Rica. I currently am closely studying the 1889 Bernardo Soto series. I learned about TSF this past weekend at WESTPEX from Beryllium Guy. This is one of the many benefits of attending stamp shows! I always leave a show with at least one new stamp connection. I am looking forward to being an active participant of TSF.

Great to see that you have joined TSF, Jessica--welcome aboard!
After we met at WESTPEX, I noticed that you were mentioned prominently in the April 2017 edition of the American Philatelist (p. 308 for those of you who are checking). Serves me right for being behind in my reading!
Anyway, I have only been with TSF since November, but I have found it to be a great place for learning from others, sharing collecting interests, and making new friends. I hope you will find it to be the same.
Welcome, Jessica, and enjoy!

Jessica - the 1889 Costa Rica Soto issue - most impressive! I have been unable to limit my interest to any particular country/issue, and so have thrown in the towel, and collect them all: World Wide 1840-1940. !!

Welcome, Jessica. Many of us here are information junkies, and despite not specializing (I am also a WW collector), we thrive on knowledge cast our way by specialists such as yourself. I promise your posts will be read with great interest, so keep 'em coming! And thanks to Chris for sending you our way.

I have Scott international volume one which I work periodically. Do you exhibit? That's what helped me figure out what I want to focus on.

I haven't seen anything about YPLF yet that I can recall, but we have at least one collector under 25 that I know of: Lila Schatten. Her name is Edith, and she recently turned 18. Perhaps she might be interested.

I've been writing about it since 2014 -- right now I think we only have one member who meets the age criteria. Coverage is on the APS Chapter Members Information board so it is only visible to members who sign in.

....I'm in the current YPLF class. I am happy to write something for you if you'd like. I think a newsletter article about your experiences in the YPLF program would be interesting (e.g., application/selection process, track selection, fellowship activities, etc.). Information regarding article submission is contained in this thread.
