I came across this item at an online auction, does anyone know anything about it? For what it's worth, I prefer labels like these ON COVER. I may bid on it, I'll let you all know! Looks like it might be about the price of a nice dinner, if I forego the calories I will have this beauty forever, whereas the meal is gone in less than an hour! ====================================================================== UPDATE: Thanks to Jay Smith (jaysmith.com) for allowing me to post an image of a cover he had (no longer available) and some information on these fine labels.....

Jim, I was just about to post a link to the Jay Smith site in response to your original post, but now I see that you have already updated your post with an image of one of the Svendsen labels on a cover. Well, I know nothing about these, but they look really nice, and the sheetlet of four seems to be in very fine condition, so it seems like it might be well worth the price of a good dinner to acquire these if you can get them for that. Best of luck whatever you decide to do!

Further to my reply, I note there is another Danish site with a cover showing a perforate example running in auction. The starting price is around $53.

Thanks for the speedy response.....I am going to lose weight for sure, as I like to justify philatelic acquisitions by "foregoing" a meal or two.
These labels sure are intriguing!!!

Singles have sold for about $10 US on the Swedish auction site A numbered block would have some value. His claim to fame was flying over the sound between Copenhagen and Malmö, Sweden. Another pilot of the period did not do so well as his plane was later nicknamed the "lawnmower" or "grass cutter" for obvious reasons From a period postcard

Just an update.....I did NOT bid on the labels originally offered, but I have a saved search in case they come up for sale on eBay! I tend to like to get labels in blocks of four, if they're not too pricey.
