Hello! Doing the obligatory introduction here. My name is Dave, and I reside in Toledo, Ohio. I've been collecting since the early 70's, when I was about 10 years old. I started out collecting pretty much everything, but quickly focused on U.S. stamps. About 10 years ago, I started a Canada collection, that has been growing slowly in spurts. Those stamps aren't as easy to find here as you might think, being only a short drive to Canada through Detroit. Except for getting almost every stamp from 2005 to 2007 from a dealer subscription before he retired, I have virtually nothing since about 1990, but I have a pretty good collection before that back to about the mid 1930's. Last year, I started a Great Britain album. Once I started digging into them, I've developed a tremendous love of the QEII era commemoratives. I picked up a small unsorted box of stamps at a local stamp show back in February to get me started. I created my own albums for both of these countries using pages I downloaded. Canada is Steiner pages, although I only have pages up to 2011. Good thing I don't have any stamps for the last 5 years to speak of yet. I use the Mystic Heirloom album for my U.S. collection, and like many of you, I'm sure, I've expanded the original 3 binders to currently 5, and I'll probably take it to 6 once I get the 2017 supplement.
That's about it. Did I share too much?

Welcome to the Forum, Dave, and thanks for introducing yourself!
I've adjusted your status so that you can now share even more on most other areas of the forum.
We all seem to enjoy looking at images of stamps so consider sharing some of your favorites with us.
Once you've been with us for at least 14 days and have made 50 "quality" posts (wow, oh my, nice, etc., don't count) you'll have access to the Buy, Sell, Trade (and Giveaway) category as well.

Yes, indeed, Dave, welcome to TSF! I am relatively new here myself, having joined last November, but I am enjoying membership immensely. The Forum is a great place to ask questions and get answers, or to help others find answers, to meet new people, and share our common interest in stamp collecting. By the way, I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and I lived in Toledo for several years of my life, so I am familiar with the area. I currently reside in northern Arizona, as the Ohio winters were a bit hard on my wife and me. Anyway, welcome aboard! I look forward to seeing some photos of your favorite stamps. Kind Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy )

Thanks for the welcome. I'm been hunting around trying to get acclimated to the forum. Where will I find discussions about albums, pages, that kind of thing? I'm looking for ideas for my newly created Canada and Great Britain albums, plus my on-going worldwide album project. The stamp discussions have been easy enough to find so far, although there doesn't appear to be many Canada stamp threads. Perhaps I haven't looked far enough yet.

The stamp discussions have been easy enough to find so far, although there doesn't appear to be many Canada stamp threads. Perhaps I haven't looked far enough yet. Discussions on album pages are primarily spread between the General Discussion board and the Links and Resources category. If you use the forum's search function and have the results displayed by threads you should be able to locate them without much difficulty. As to the number of Canada threads, we have over 60 in the Classics sub-board and numerous others in the other four Canada sub-boards. The few that are posted under the main Canada board either haven't been moved yet to the appropriate sub-board or they just don't fit neatly in one of those areas.

Dave,
My name is Mike and I started collecting at 8 years old in the late 60's. In all those years I never put together much of a US, Canada or Great Britain collection. After my worldwide days of trying to cram as many stamps as possible into an album, I settled into getting more specialized. Currently I collect US 3c postal stationery (embossed) envelopes from 1864-1870 (Scott U58 and U59). I also accumulate US Mint sheets from the 32c era on and currently, I'm working on a new topic, Space. I'll be posting some of my newest stamps on the forum within the next day so I can share them with everyone.
We all love this hobby and that's why we joined the forum to share and have fun.

Welcome Dave.I'm in the middle of my busy season but when you say Canada you got my attention.I am currently at the 99% completion point up to 2014.I run through phases right now I'm OCD ing on large queens. I also absolutely love used blocks, a real challenge to find postally used blocks.Much more difficult than mint from the post office. Welcome!

Where will I find discussions about albums, pages, that kind of thing? We have some users on this forum who produce excellent homemade album pages. PostmasterGS has the Stamp Album Page Generator on his website and includes many videos explaining how to use his program. Andy Pastuszak has a website called Stamp Hacks which details the methods he uses to create his own pages, with downloads of everything available. Ambitious people, these two! Ryan

PostmasterGS Stamp Page Generator is a life saver! Take the time to learn it! Now if only the computer systems I support at work would stop breaking, I'd have more time to make stamp pages!

Welcome!
In this hobby we call philately there is no such thing as to much information!
I my self, specialize in Ukraine. I use the Schaubek system for my current comm. and am in the process of making my own pages on their paper for the classics. I use Open office writer to create my pages (ya I know I am old style but its what I am used to)
Cheers!
