Hi I thought I would add a few more postboxes from my collection. These are all La Poste.
Above This is one of my favourites it wasn't in great condition when I got. It was made in 1955 by Dejoie.
I'm told this style is reasonably rare and few departments ordered them. There is a photo of one in Morocco but not many photos of these in use in France
Modern box (other half hates this)
Again another modern box, nothing special and very much in as found condition. Alex p.s. I have loads more photos but I can't figure how to post them without the photo being turned on its side.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

While on a walking tour with a local guide in Copenhagen this morning we passed by this graffiti covered post box. The guide had said several times that graffiti is a major problem in Denmark. They are not unique with this problem. We did drive buy a pair of newer red brick buildings that the guide told us were for the Danish Postal Service. She was very positive about her city and country except when it came to the postal service. She said domestic service was usually 2 weeks. She questioned why the need for new digs for a shrinking market. The Danes are amongst the most digitally savvy countries on the world doing most everything on line.

Here's a pair from central Helsinki, Finland.... Couldn't find any variations anywhere in the city, they seem to be pretty uniform:

Seen in Cuenca,an old post box from the Correos del Ecuador which was liquidated in 2020.A new company was formed ,Servicios Postales del Ecuador . This new company already has a terrible reputation .Extremely high prices and very little international mail service. They say there is mail service to the USA but I have been told by members of the local stamp club this is completely unreliable.

Just on a quick jaunt over to Germany, specifically Cologne (Köln) and Bonn, postboxes seem to be pretty standard and modern from what I could see... Here is an example back to back pair from Cologne:

Hotel Chateau Frontenac Quebec City, CanadaWhile walking around Quebec City yesterday, we made a brief visit to the historic Hotel Chateau Frontenac, which originally opened in 1893 and is today a designated Canadian National Historic Site as well as an operational Fairmont Hotel. Amongst the resplendent interior decor, I was pleased to see two original, old-style brass postboxes that are still in service with Canada Post. Bravo! Left: Solid brass postbox in the main lobby of the Hotel Chateau Frontenac. Middle: Close-up of the old Royal Mail Canada crest of the postbox shown on the left. Right: A second brass postbox was found in another, smaller elevator lobby in the hotel.

Postbox from Correo Uruguayo, found in Colonia del Sacramento,Uruguay. A 90 minute ferry ride from Buenos Aires.Dated 1879 and sadly covered with the usual graffiti. It was also padlocked but could not tell if it was still in use. Ps Just the postbox dated 1879...I am a little newer...

Walking around Buenos Aires,I came across numerous British-style red post boxes.None are in use today however. Prior to 1946,the postal services in Argentina were under British ownership who probably introduced these boxes. Most of the ones I found were covered in graffiti but a few were in good shape.

Rural Post Boxes ... When we first started coming to Wolfe Island, this was our 'community post box' ... if you wanted to mail a letter, you'd put a stamp on it, put it in your 'box' and the carrier would pick it up when he/she delivered the mail. If you didn't have a stamp, well ... you'd have to travel 15KM to the post office in the village. In the 'olden' days before Rural Delivery (i.e. before 1918) there were four sub-offices in people's homes at various points on the island. The one for my area was right across the street from these boxes. The house is still there. So are these boxes, it seems a couple of them are now used as bird houses. The birds keep coming back every year. Then about fifteen years ago ... we got these brand, spanking new community mailboxes. You pick up your mail in your own 'locked' box, parcels in the shared boxes (if you get a parcel, the key is left in your mailbox) and you can drop an outgoing letter in the slot in the red box. They originally had two, then three towers of boxes. This photo has four as an additional one was added about a month ago. While there has been some population growth, the reason for the extra boxes seems to be that more weekend / summer residents are getting boxes instead of going to the village for their mail. Our island is long (26KM) and narrow with about 1,200 people between October and June and double, perhaps triple, that in the summer. I live about 1.5KM down the road from this set of boxes. It's a nice walk in the summer and / or I pick up my mail to and from the ferry which leaves from the village. There are three other sets of community boxes like this on the island - one of which services the 80 or so people that live on Simcoe Island just offshore from ours. The village folk get there mail delivered or can rent a box in the main PO. If we weren't on an island, with only 1,200 full-time residents we probably would have lost our PO years ago. So, yeah, summer residents.
