Just a question at this time but what would be a good album to move out of Minkus U.S.. Does anyone have a conversion chart Minkus numbers to Scott numbers? Someone years ago offered one to me but it never happened.

I'm not aware of a conversion table and am not familiar with the Minkus numbering system.
Amos (Scott's parent) purchased Minkus some time ago and they continue to provide pages and supplements for the Minkus albums.
If no one comes up with a conversion table I'd recommend contacting Amos' customer service to see if they have such a product.

There is a catalog Krause-Minkus Standard Catalog of U.S. Stamps that had both Scott & Minkus #'s but I would check if recent copies have it. I had an old 1990's one and it was reasonably good.
Lynns also published a conversion for US stamps in the 1990's
If the Krause works you can get older catalogs on Amazon for $5-$10

The newer Minkus pages now have Scott numbers but classic era are hopelessly numbered by unidentifiable numbers making a real shambles of trying to organize an accurate want list. I have just started wading through all those Washingtons the digital microscope will be getting a real workout. Why the scope is now in the paint program is beyond my comprehension.

Can you clarify what this means? I realize a digital scope has an application so what is different now?

MS Paint is probably the default graphics editor on the new computer. What graphics program did you use on the old one?

Paint is probably the default - to change it In Windows 10 Left click your mouse on the windows icon on the bottom left Click on "Settings" Once the settings opens on the left scroll down to "Default Apps" When that opens you will see what application opens your photo viewer If Paint is there click on it, a list of all the possibilities will show up and choose which one you want. Nothing is simple with these systems If that doesn't work find someone 16yrs old or younger - they will know what to do

Good luck with Windows 10 Frog ! I was happily using their 'Edge' browser until an update collapsed the system worldwide a couple of months back ! MS apologized to all those who had problems but did not offer a solution. So I reverted back to IE11 which is not good with W10 so now I use Chrome. It's been a disaster for those 2 months. This computer stuff is not always easy as you have found out !!
Good luck and it's great to have a friendly neighbour.

Good luck. IE was never really good.
Back to original topic, Krause printed a cross-reference (originally was printed in the catalog) but then separately after the Scott-Krause lawsuit settlement. I tossed mine a while back in a clean up. The 3 ring binder concept had promise.

I was sitting drinking my caffeine today and have come to the conclusion that I owe it to Mom to start working on the U.S. collection in earnest. It was never my favorite as I mentioned I was her "volunteer" required to sort all those Washington-Franklin issues and measure all those grills. It was the prime decision to move to BNA at age eight. Now after thinking about the smile on her face while looking at her stamps ,I guess I should honor her and continue the collection. It sits in it's own cabinet and is mostly up to date til 2012.Her plate block album is quite heavy and there are boot boxes absolutely full of other material to go through. I started some time ago briefly to go through her revenues but they need a LOT of serious work to put them on new pages. It will be hard to put aside my other stuff but I can't focus on it seriously without doing that.January 2 will be the start of a new enterprise for me.

I wish I had stuff like that to go through, firstfrog2013! I have to buy from auctions to stuff to peruse. And all the lots I've won in the past 6-7 weeks or so will be mailed out today. I thought he had mailed them out earlier, but he waited until CUPW (Canadian Union of Postal Workers) went back to work. Can't wait to get them! But that doesn't explain the eBay lot of Greenland clichés not arriving. It's been almost 2 months waiting for that to arrive! I hope I wasn't ripped off!

well Pete if your bored and need something to do...….. I'm only a few hours away.Quite frankly you really wouldn't be thrilled to go through all this stuff. The early stuff is on the Minkus pages that are totally confusing when working with Scott numbers.I filled a few spaces for Mom and tried to number some for want lists but her collection was always forty miles away. Now I will approach it with new eyes.

Hi All Just a heads up. My cousin and I installed the XP paint program. It runs fine on Windows 7 as an X86 application and will probably run alright on any new version of Windows. Neither one of us liked the new version of Paint. If anyone wants it and has no access to XP, I put the Zip folder on Box at: app.box.com/s/63j9ehu35h8bhihi4qy795m8bjvzo2g1. Ignore any error message and click Download. After UnZip, notice that there is also a Paint98 in the file which can be deleted. Jerry B

I doubt that Microsoft Paint has changed much in years. It still is very basic.

Hi angore
Agreed, it still is basic. However, it seems that the XP version is easier to use, less of the "where is it".
