Have to say I am in a bit of shock having just won this French lot which is comprised of all the stamps and covers shown below. Never thought my $99.99 bid would take it but I even had a couple bucks to spare. Even if that is a cut corner on the #37 selling it should pretty much cover the rest. This is known as happy campin!!!

and one more.......... By the way I don't think there are any stamps I don't already have but surely to be some upgrades and a variant or two. I don't have any early french covers so they will make a nice addition. Be nice if that #37 was missing the denomination. Attachments:

Man, that is a great batch of French! I especially like the covers. Ebay?

Richard, it would not have gone near that low on Ebay. The covers are nifty but all cheap as far as I can tell but there are quite a few. They will be a nice addition to my coverless French collection. I just realized that the #37 looks like it has a straightedge, I was so concerned on whether or not it had a UR cut corner that I did not really notice it until now. Still with an additional 92 Napoleans and Ceres a nice batch to play with. I could get better than $50 for the 37 as it appears. Besides possibly a #1, I think most collectors want the 37 most. Thins are what really haunted those 5Fr stamps. Probably just the crummy scan but I cannot see the denomination and seems as though you should that would be a nice but nigh impossible 100 fold increase in value.

Nice classical French group. France is a great country for collectors. I picked up a French album last week that was numbered according to Yvert. The collector had lots of shades in the sowers and earlier that are not in Scott.

In contrast, here is a page fragment that I picked up a day or two ago. Much slower going this way. Condition isn't fabulous, but I paid $2, or so, so that I could check the shades, etc. This 25c was a throw-in because of the damage. I took it because I know that many of the 6000-series cancels in the gros chiffres lozenges were used abroad. Turns out this one was not. It was used in Arromanches-les-bains, a small town of a few- to several-hundred people over the last few centuries, but right at the epicenter of D-Day. Arromanches is the site of a current D-Day museum, and one of two Mulberry harbors constructed for the allies, as a part of Gold Beach (a landing site for the Brits).

I've recieved both lots and was quite pleased with the contents. The large 5fr Napoleon unfortunately had a mirad of faults but it did happen to be the Bluish shade which I did not have. The covers were for the most part in pretty good shape and make a nice addition to the collection. The $50 second "Mish Mash" lot was just that. I have never seen so many different forgeries from so many countires in a single lot before. The best items in the lot were a group of stamps that were not even shown in the auction scans! $450 cat worth of the first 6 stamps from the Netherlands that had four different shades I was lacking. See below Also another Expo stamp I did not have for my "Way Back of Book" U.S. collection...see below Also below my new and improved, first page of Holland

Nice First page Holland! I was adding a few stamps on the first page to my own Netherlands collection earlier this evening, so I can appreciate (quite acutely!) what you have.

You just gotta love those unexpected surprises. The extra shades really make for an awesome looking page.

I love looking through lot's like that. Looking at all these world wide lots makes me think that I'll have to work on my WWI German collection some.

Besides the Vlad sheet and one other $12 lot I lost all the 20 or so I bid on this weekend, except the one that ended last and I wanted the most. Glad I lost all the others or I would have not been able to afford this one. My Azores was already pretty good compared to most but this set helps to raise the bar a bit higher. At 10% of cat it's a very nice deal!
