issued Oct.30th,1930 One has to have a close look,to find the bridge and the passing train. The Junk-series is one of my top-favourites,ever. Thanks for pointing out the details of this stamp design, salentin. I never noticed the bridge and train in the background behind the junk--pretty amazing detail to have missed for all these years, especially considering that I have dozens of these stamps in my collection!!

I swear, every time i come in here, I see more threads of interesting topics. I just buzzed through my collection of Luxembourg & noted a number of bridges. So without further ado... start scrolling!
Higher value definitive, issued short after Grand Duchess Charlotte ascended the throne.
The 1st Airmail issues, and I flubbed the descriptions!
This one was posted earlier, but here it is again with the joint issue from Belgium.
Part of the Millennium of the city of Luxembourg issue. It was only sold at the MELUSINA International Philatelic Exhibition & included admittance to the show. Each stamp in the set depicted a different century.
Centenary of the Treaty of London.
Two different papers. One very bright, the other dull. I thought that Michel's single country catalogue would show more varieties than it does. Very little is mentioned besides phosphor coatings and fibrous paper.

St. Benezet Bridge - Avignon, FranceAlso known as the "Avignon Bridge", I visited this one recently, and reported that visit in another thread: thestampforum.boards.net/post/56731/threadAs I looked at all of these very nice "Bridges on Stamps" images, I got to thinking that there must be a stamp for the Avignon Bridge, and as it turns out, there is. In fact, I actually have a copy of this stamp in my collection, although I did not remember it. It is France, Scott #344, 3-franc carmine brown commemorative depicting the Palace of the Popes in Avignon, with the bridge in the foreground of the image, issued in 1938. Below is a Maxicard with an old photo and the stamp, postmarked in Avignon in 1939. This item does not belong to me, but I found this image at the following website: bridge-maximumcard.blogspot.com/2010/06/france-pont-saint-benezet.htmlI hope that Jerry B will note that the song is featured on this postcard, too. I do have one of these stamps in my collection, but it is mounted in the middle of a rather full album page, so I do not have a good scan of the individual stamp. If I can improve on that, I will make an additional post.

The Nihonbashi Bridge in Edo (today Tokyo).Here a colourated woodcut by Hiroshige. The original bridge,a wood-construction,was built in the early 17th century.It burnt soon down and was rebuilt many (20) times.The present stone bridge was built in 1911 and after having survived WW II,
was declared a national monument.The bridge is point zero for many long-distant connections leaving out of Tokyo.
stamp issued Oct.7th,1962;

From the lot of Albanian stamps that just arrived on Friday. Bridges on the 1922 Landscapes issue, Scott #'s 148 & 150, 5 qindarkas & 25 qindarkas. Scott says the "qindarka" appeared in 1947, so why are they on stamps 25 years earlier? Plus Scott's has them issued in 1923. There is also the qintar, probably the same, just with an alternate spelling. This series & other early issues are quite nice, whereas later issues are printed on poor paper, with equally poor printing presses. Cheesy IOW's! Some though with frightful prices!
