I kick myself now.
Way back when, I had a nice collection of modern Jersey. But I noticed this island separating & issuing some nice looking stamps. I started after the initial overprinted definitives. I opened up a standing order account & welcomed all issues being sent, including the odd specimen & official overprints.
Until that is, the Leaders of the World (LOTW) issues started. I couldn't understand them issuing stamps that no relevance to the islands. So, I packaged them up & shipped them back, requesting them not to send me any more of these. Well, I received a reply with the returned stamps sent back to me & a letter stating that the standing order account means all stamps will be sent to me. They sent more, I complained again.
I had had enough of this wallpaper. So I sent a cancellation order to my account & please send me a money order for the balance in my account. They sent more! Including some specimen overprints of the Fish definitives (which I liked).
I had kept them in a stock book all these years, but shredded them to bits a couple months ago.
I still have all the other stamps, and have added a couple more sets. The anniversary souvenir sheet & the Fish definitives of the mid 90's that look like the earlier set. It's a beautiful set.
I look at Tuvalu with sadness now, as they pump out tons of wallpaper for anything, only to add to their coffers. They started out so well.
Another job to do - remount them all on double-sided sheets. They are presently in an unwieldy 2" binder on black, orange, cream & green sheets. As well as in stock books. I look at what else I need to do, good thing I am retired. This will keep me busy for a long time!
