Hi. I’m a collector in Michigan, and this is my obligatory introduction. I collect classic issues from all countries surrounding the eastern Mediterranean, north and north-east Africa, all Asia except the south-east, and British Empire: stamps, and in some cases postcards and postal history. I’m also a coin collector. But in practice I spend more time on acquiring philatelic and numismatic literature. I belong to a large number of societies too. By profession I’m a retired statistician and astronomy writer.

Hi and welcome jisles,
In my own simple mind, I keep wondering if a statistician would be able to somehow apply factor analysis or something to come up with better separation and identification of color varieties.

...By profession I’m a retired statistician and astronomy writer. I hope you'll consider a shift in focus from writing about astronomy to subjects that are related to philately. Our Newsletter is always on the lookout for new contributors!

Welcome to TSF, John! Any lover of classic stamps is clearly on my wavelength. Where in Michigan are you? Anywhere near Detroit? I lived in Royal Oak back in 1990-1991, and really liked it. Looking forward to seeing some posts of your favorite stuff. Enjoy your time with us! Best Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)
