I don't know what everyone uses to cut their stamp mounts, but I bought this Fiskars after my dinky little Lighthouse cutter blade fell off. I had a Lighthouse as a kid & it worked great for years. Bought a new one a couple years ago & it lasted less than 1 year. This one here can trim a full strip, so when I have a bunch of like-sized stamps, I just cut one strip to fit the entire row. If the blade wears down, just buy new blade. It works great!

I recently purchased this and I love it. I still have a small one to cut mounts to size. This one is great with card stock and I have been get more use out of it than I thought I would.

My only issue with it is the placement of the notch to insert the blade. It really should be at the top, not the bottom. I just have to be careful at times when sliding it back & forth.

I have had a Showgard cutter for many years and still works well (famous last words). It has a little cantilever feature that allows you to hold the mount when cutting (prevents twisting). I do not know off hand the max size it will cut. I do split split back mounts in half using a normal paper cutter that is over 50 years old.

Yesterday I purchased the 12" Deluxe Paper Trimmer with Aluminum Cut Rail at Hobby Lobby using the 40% off coupon that can be downloaded from their website. The trimmer came with two blades: one for cutting (orange) and the other for scoring (black). My only complaint thus far is that if I put too much pressure on the deck while holding the paper in place it will bow downward slightly causing the blade to lose contact with the paper. I bought the Fiskars product to trim paper rather than mounts as I still am quite pleased with the performance of my Showgard guillotine.

My Lighthouse looked pretty the same as the ShowGard. The problem with the latest Lighthouse was with the glue they used to attach the blade. They just glopped it on and set it on the blade handle. I took a look when it fell off and wondered why they wouldn't have spread the glue evenly along the blade. I cleaned it up the best I could & re-attached the blade. After leaving it for a few days, I tried it again & the blade just fell off. So I trashed it. It was a handy little cutter, much like the Showgard model.

Thanks Pete. I keep forgetting to order me one of these, so I found a new one on Ebay for $10 with shipping today. I ordered it finally. LOL.

The only thing is, the wife saw it and I think I may have to buy her one or she will steal mine now. LOL. Mike.

So if she wears down the blade, it is a simple matter to just buy new ones. Of course that doesn't help if she is using it whenever you need it!
