daveg I was always impressed with the engraving of the various French Colonial issues, so, although I mainly collect Canada, NZ and some other British Commonwealth countries, I have built a modest collection of France and some of the Colonies; but, like you, to go any further with it, I would only collect the territories that are still part of France, like SP&M, etc. Would be interesting to see some of your material.

I bought a Lighthouse Saint-Pierre et Miquelon album a few years ago and for some reasons I can't seem to find any supplements prior 1958 on their Web site.
Am I just not looking at the right place?
Thanks

Renden I'd like to go too; flights right now are an issue. Need to get to St. John's which you can do from Halifax, then hop to the Islands. No problem entering France from Canada (Newfoundland). Getting from Edmundston to Halifax is a long drive 6-7 hours; but doable. Easier from here - only 3 hours and a bit to the Halifax airport. There were regular flights from Saint John to Halifax but not sure if they are re-instated yet. I'll look into it as my wife is getting cabin fever and this would be fun. Lots of stamp collectors on SP&M and an active stamp club. COVID quarantine may be an issue on SP&M but I'll check that out.

Did a bit of looking but wasn't able to determine for sure if the Islands are closed. There a few active cases of Covid there and a couple are recent, so maybe best to wait and see.

Definitely not going until we get the vaccine.......and it works - probably would try to fly there instead of those long hours on the Road !! René

I recognize this is an older thread, but I wanted to scout out people's opinions. These are the Saint Pierre & Miquelon stamps given to me by my stamping friend over the holidays. I am collecting Newfoundland and she thought I should have these too, seeing as they are so close geographically. My sisters have been to Saint Pierre & Miquelon. I've been searching online to find catalog numbers and CV. I'm noticing Saint Pierre & Miquelon stamps seem to be a tad on the expensive side for stamps. I'm not sure whether I should collect used or mint stamps? Or collect at all? Used might be difficult to find? I'm noticing a lot more mint on sites like HipStamp than used. What has your experience been?

Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon stamps are a very interesting collecting area, particularly if you like naval themes. Used modern stamps are difficult to find because the local population and stamp usage is quite limited (only some 5000 people live on the islands). Since it is a French territory, the best catalogs are French. I use the Yvert&Tellier one, personally, and also order from them to add to my collection of modern issues, which is now almost complete. Some of the mid twentieth-century issues will cost you a pretty penny, and the France Libre issues from Christmas 1941 are really among the most difficult to find.

Thanks hrdoktorx ! I guess I will have to decide how deep my pocket is. I normally collect used. But this might call for a different approach. tobben63 , thanks for the links. Last night I started developing an album for St. Pierre & Miquelon using the StampWorld catalog. I’ll check Colnect too.

Maybe the most important among the new arrivals, the last missing set (but first issued, in 2005) of the Lamouche Marianne definitives from St-Pierre-et-Miquelon:

Hi Peter, brightonpeteI've only found this stamp so far, Scott 119 An example of a forged stamp with differentiating elements: 1 perforated hole in the corner is not aligned with those on the horizontal and vertical (perf.in line instead of combined) 2.only three fingers on the hand 3.flattened fruit (in the original it is round)

Been looking for a couple of years for the 3F from the 1932 postage due issue without having to repurchase the whole set. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi nbstamperOn the site "delcampe.net" there is a seller who sells these stamps independently ... but the price is high. I think it's cheaper to buy the whole collection and sell what you don't need.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This item popped up on my eBay saved searches due to the Nova Scotia connection. An intact cover would have been nicer but having the complete Paquebot Halifax cancel dated January 19, 1932 made it worth me bidding on it. The stamp is a Scott 102. I think I will keep it with my Nova Scotia collection rather than having it get lost in my world wide collection on the Saint-Pierre & Miquelon pages.
