The formation of the UAR was celebrated with the same design showing both countries, though even this initial design hints at the political posturing of the period and region, with Syria pushed seemingly towards the back of the design , Egypt in the foreground.

I think this is an over-interpretation: the position of Egypt and Syria on the the stamp simply shows the geographic situation.

Maybe so, that is only my humble opinion Judging by their history before 58, the break up in 61 and now basically enemies I would say the stamp represented a "Bridge over Troubled Waters" |

Is there any significance to what appears to be a reverse (by Western standards) "W" and reverse "N" in "WE DEMAND ABSOLUTE INDEPENDENCE"? The "N" in "EVACUATION DAY" is not reversed. |

And the "E" in EVACUATION" looks more like a € as in Euro.

I can't speak from any point of authority, but I viewed the design of the inscription as possibly trying to depict a slogan used by people - expressed in a form that perhaps would be found scrawled on a building or wall - to demand freedom from the occupying forces. We should remember, that for many Syrians, English (or rather French), is not even a second language.
I'm not sure where the choice of "E" in "evacuation" comes from, perhaps an error in the intial design required a "C" to be changed to an "E".
It would be interesting to see what Royal Mail or USPS might do if asked to produce a multi-lingual stamp design...
