A very nice eBay selection of mainly JW Scott with some possible Springfield & Birmingham fakes. $5700 ? maybe $0.57 each is more realistic
The Scott's are quite good as they were photographically reproduced. The genuine Below a rogues gallery with the Scott in the middle

Well, I can't attest to the genuineness of the stamps themselves, especially not using colour, since we can't tell how accurate the sellers photo is. I'm referring more to the covers themselves. On at least 5 the stamps are not tied to the cover, a dead giveaway according to Dr. Kimbrough. Also, and I think the most obvious is the envelope at the bottom of the second image with the rose coloured #5 which was issued in 1862. The Norfolk VA cancel dates this cover to 1863, which in itself isn't a problem, but according to Dr Kimbrough's exhibit, page 10, Norfolk VA fell to the Union army in April 1862. No Confederate mail went out of that city after that date.
Also, and I discovered this after the fact, the Norfolk VA cancel on that cover is listed in the New Dietz Catalogue and Handbook (pg 166) as bogus as well.
I love your rogues gallery, by the way nl1947. But isn't your centre stamp, which you call a Scott, actually a New York counterfeit? Tell tale shorted cross bar on the F in five, and the little dot at 2 o'clock above the upper left star.
I've bookmarked your website! Excellent resource, thanks.

Some CSA articles/books/website attribute the New York forgery to JW Scott (Scott's Catalog) - New York was his office location The early Scotts editions 1906-1920 show the exact same stamp with the forgery features attributed to the "New York". A key of the New York/Scott is indeed the very short crossbars in the F & E of FIVE and the thicker outer frame line as they appear in Scott's catalog. Now having said that, Oneglia, Torres and Sperati are also attributed with making very good CSA's - so who knows....

Thanks nl, I wasn't aware of the connection with Scott and the New Yorks. Live and learn!

Came across this from the Trish Kaufman site "New York Counterfeit: this commonly encountered forgery was printed from an electrotype plate by J. Walter Scott for use in the Scott albums in the early 1900s or possibly even the late 1800s. The master die was photographically reproduced from a print from the ten-cent altered plate (subject of another treatise) and the value in the tablet changed from "TEN" back to "FIVE". The first thing that jumps out at me personally is always the odd cloudy greenish-blue aqua color"
This would probably confirm the origin of the New York forgery. What is interesting is this item I came across.
It has the features of the Scott; thick outer frame, stars touch the circle, dot near the left top star. However, The "greenish-blue aqua color" is not there and the crossbars on the F & E seem OK. The stamp nor the paper appears to be 150 years old. A modern adulterated forgery of a forgery (Scott) or ....?
