The Aden Protectorate was a British protectorate in southern Arabia which evolved in the hinterland of Aden following the acquisition of that port by Britain in 1839 as an anti-piracy station, and it continued until the 1960s. For administrative purposes it was divided into the Western Protectorate and the Eastern Protectorate. Today the territory forms part of the Republic of Yemen. Paintings : "Young girl reading" by Jean-Honore Fragonard (1732-1806) (Fragonard has created an error in his painting, impossible to get ring finger around edge of a book when held thus) Ack! When I click on the thumbnail for this stamp, I don't get a full-sized view. In fact, I don't get anything at all! Where has the image gone? Ryan

I am experiencing pages that don't load after the banner ad appears so perhaps there is a conflict with either your browser or security software and the ProBoard ads. Refreshing solves my problem.

The image loading is working for me now. I use AdBlocker so I haven't been seeing any ads - don't know what would have been causing my problem.

I wonder what book the young lass was reading? What did girls of good breeding read in those days? What was available? I wonder if it was the King James Bible?
