That is a strong claim that "all" experts agree given the number of optons on the market. It is clearly affordable.
I have used MS Publisher (used it for the newsletter I did some years back) but now use Scribus, free to use, to make album pages but obviously intended for broader market.

Scribus has a lot of power and overkill for album pages too but I decided to use it anyway.

Al (or anyone else, for that matter) -- Have you ever tried that AlbumEasy program (I think that's the name) that the developer has introduced on a couple of other sites that we're both on? Just wondering what you think of it, especially versus learning Scribus outright.
And that also raises in my mind the question about the album page program written by PostmasterGS (that also uses Scribus as the underlying engine?).
If I were to start creating some of my own pages, I've wondered which approach would be (1) the easiest to learn (although I'm usually pretty good picking up software), or (2) the most versatile. And I appreciate that (1) and (2) are likely at odds with each other.
(I do have a disc of the Steiner pages from several years ago. So let's take that option off the table for the moment.)
Thanks in advance for anyone's thoughts and experiences on this.

Philatarium,
Yes. I have installed and used Album Easy. I even have notepad+ and all the Album Easy extensions. I did a little experimenting with it.
I experimented with Scribus because Andy P used it to create his Mystic "hacked" pages and he had provided the templates. I had a US Mystic album so just continued on based upon his work and Scribus was free. The WYSIWYG approach (like most every DTP) allows tweaking that is not easy in Album Easy for complex page layouts.
For my worldwide collection, I use Steiner pages and eventually I will create custom pages. Album Easy cannot replicate the text on Steiner pages since Steiner uses double wide spacing between characters on headings. Clive said he may add this feature in the future.
Maybe we should start a separate thread.

Al, thanks very much for sharing your observations and experience on this. Once I get a chance to start experimenting with these, I may very well ask you some follow-up questions. Many thanks!
