Once again I come across another post with smallish photos. But, you can click them to view a larger version. But when I click some (not all) I end up with the IMGBB upload page. I didn't bother to get an account when I joined, as the single upload feature suits me just fine.
But do I have to have an account to view some of these photos?

I do not use the account but simply add the image from my computer and 1 MB is the limit - Cheers !!

The imgbb hosting site is not one that I have control over and I can't explain why left-clicking on some images takes one to the imgbb upload page while on others it will show the image that had been uploaded to imgbb -- I do have an account and I encounter the same problem as you.
The only workaround I've found in cases where the upload page appears is to right-click on the image, rather than left-clicking, and open the image in a new tab. The image will appear but if it was small when uploaded it will remain so.
The Simple Image Upload plugin, the one associated with imgbb, was added to the Forum shortly after Photobucket blocked thousands of the images that had been uploaded to the Forum -- that plugin is activated using the "Add image to post" button.
I was planning on removing this plugin once I had gotten the Forum's own host functioning but know that several members have imgbb accounts and prefer to continue using them.
We've since acquired the TSF Image Host and I recommend that members who don't have an imgbb account consider using it, rather than the Simple Image Upload -- the TSF Image Host plugin is activated using the "Upload images" button but you must have an account before being able to use it.
To be eligible for a TSF Image Host account, you must have made your introductory post on the New Member Introductions board and be a member in good standing.
To request an account, send a forum message to me that includes your full legal name and a valid email address. Once your account has been created, a link to the site and your account password will be sent to the email address that you provided.
There is one other instance where small images shown within the post will open and enlarge. When the Forum was first established we were able to upload images as attachments and these were stored on the ProBoards servers.
It became cost-prohibitive to continue using the service so the Forum adopted a "find your own image host" policy. Posts containing these images were created in 2013 and early 2014.
