Greetings Everyone:
I just joined The Stamp Forum. I have been a collector for 60 years plus. Started when I was eight years old along with my two other brothers. My father was a collector and started us boys at an early age. I am now Seventy and resumed collecting after my wife and partner, passed away in 2015. I collect USA used up to 2006 and Worldwide to 2003. (The year my full set of Scott's Catalogues ended). I am current cataloging my China collection, and will need some help in that area.
Cheers, StampguyUSA (jim)

stampguyusa, you have many neighbors up North (Canada) and hope to read your experience "stamping" since such a young age....well I started at age 12 but stamping was an on/off activity for many years until I had more time. WW collector with sub-specialties. How is your Canada collection going ? René

I couldn't help but notice that you are a Member of the State Revenue Society. I am also a member, if fact, for sometime, I was the printer of the State Revenue News, until I had a stroke in 2004. I am not active now, but still enjoy receiving the News. I enjoyed working with Scott Troutman. I was shocked at his loss.
Regards, Jim

Hello, Jim ( stampguyusa), and welcome to TSF! It's good to have you on board. Your story is a familiar one to so many of us, starting out collecting as a youngster, putting it aside while family and career dominated your life, and then picking it back up again later, sometimes not until retirement. I did pretty much the same thing, essentially, and even got started because of my Dad, too! Anyway, welcome again, and I look forward to seeing some posts of your favorite material! Kind Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

...I couldn't help but notice that you are a Member of the State Revenue Society... I've only been an SRS member for the past 3 or 4 years. I joined both it and ATTS in the hope of gaining greater insight into my Ohio prepaid sales tax stamp (OSTS) collection. I find the material in SRN to be interesting but rarely pertinent to my collecting interests. I'm waiting for the next revision of the State Revenue catalog as it is once again supposed to include the OSTS. Did I understand correctly that you have a background in printing?

...I couldn't help but notice that you are a Member of the State Revenue Society... Did I understand correctly that you have a background in printing? Yes, you did Steve,
I started out in high school as a part-time job, pour melted lead into molds for the Linotype machines. By the timel I reached college, majoring in broadcast electronics, I enjoy printing much, that I ended up doing for the rest of my life, except for a few other interesting jobs. I got married, moved from California to Virginia and after working there for a few years, my wife and I started our own company.

It was one of the first counties that I worked on after getting back. I am weak in newer areas, but otherwise in pretty good shape.

If you were trying to use the TSF Image Host plugin (the "Upload images" button), you must first request an account as the log in information is different from that which you use to sign in to the Forum. This thread describes how to request an account and this one explains the three different methods for adding images to posts.

One last question, Is it okay to use an image when asking help identifying a stamp(s)?

Welcome from your Commonwealth, Jim! "Virginia is for lovers"? No, "Virginia is for speed traps." 😉 Strange, I have lived here for 35 years and never got caught in a speed trap, maybe than is in Northern Virginia.

Yes, many motorists "go South" in Northern Virginia, speed-wise.
