AlbumEasy V3.8 - The free stamp album page generator .
One of the highlights of this release is the ability to add decorative borders to the album page. Decorative page borders can be defined by the user, however I have also Included seven sample borders. These samples may be viewed by loading the DecorativeBorders.txt example album file. Regrettably my limited artistic ability means that the seven samples are likely more useful as templates for the user to define their own rather than page ready final artwork. New Commands:- ALBUM_PAGES_DECORATIVE_BORDER command for adding predefined or custom decorative borders around the page.
- TEXT_CHAR_SPACING command to adjust the inter-character spacing of text - useful for example to match the spaced text used in the Steiner albums.
- STAMP_BORDER_STYLE command to set dotted or dashed borders for stamp boxes.
Enhancements:- The STAMP_ADD command syntax has been simplified and now supports multiple lines of text below as well as inside the stamp box.
As a result the STAMP_ADDX and STAMP_ADDX_IMG commands are no longer required. These commands however, as well as the old STAMP_ADD syntax have been retained for backwards compatibility. It is recommended that for new albums the new STAMP_ADD syntax is used instead.
For an example of how to use the new features please refer to the NewExamples.txt and DecorativeBorders.txt albums which can be found in the examples directory . As always, versions for Windows and Linux as well as the source code may be downloaded from www.theStampWeb.comPlease don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or come across any bugs.

Hi Clive. I've downloaded AlbumEasy, and I think I'll be able to work with it. One question regarding fonts. I like to use Lucida Calligraphy for my country names. I've followed the instructions and found my computer's fonts. How do I change the default font to Lucida? I can see where to do it, but not what code to use. Cheers, Dave Edit: Fixed it

A couple of questions.
1. How can fractions such as ½ be input? Doing so generates a question mark. 2. I have the country name, on the next line a description of the issue, on the next line the printing details. How can I reduce the spacing between the second and third lines without changing the formatting for the whole page?

Why does this program want to access my data from websites and control my themes? This has nothing to do with printing pages.

How can I reduce the spacing between the second and third lines without changing the formatting for the whole page? Hi Sherro, - AlbumEasy supports two different methods of encoding fonts; UTF-8 and Windows-1252 (referred to as Latin1 in the configuration dialogue box). These two character sets overlap for standard alphanumeric characters but encode the special characters differently. So if the encoding of the text file and the AlbumEasy configuration differ, then you will see some special characters being generated as a question mark.
The simple solution is to press the "configure" button on the toolbar, and switch the character encoding. That being said, depending on what editor you use, if you are able to change the encoding used for saving files, then I suggest that you set it to use UTF-8 as this can encode most of the world's characters whereas Windows-1252 is restricted to the characters of Western European languages.
- The PAGE_TEXT_VSPACE commands allows one to adjust the amount of space between the line of text and what follows.
I hope that helps, please shout if you have any further questions, Clive

However, after further thought I am wondering if you are getting that message after pressing the "View PDF" button in AlbumEasy, in which case, all AE does is launch the default PDF viewing application on your computer, and it is that application that is generating the message.
Let me know, Clive

No, this was when I clicked the download button from the link you provided. I did it again this morning and see that you changed it this week, so that it no longer has this message. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks Clive. The space command needs parameters that I can't seem to figure out

OK, so I downloaded the file since I didn't get the message that I did before this morning. When I opened the file, I noticed a quick warning from my Norton Security. I went and checked the Norton History and it had blocked "Internet Explorer Temporary Files". This means that your program was trying to change my Internet Explorer, just like the first message I got warned me about. After you open StampEasy, when you click the "Open" button, it tries to access the internet every time. I did this several times and Norton stopped it every time. Why does it do this?

Thanks Clive. The space command needs parameters that I can't seem to figure out Hi Sherro, you can use it as follows: PAGE_TEXT_CENTRE_VSPACE (HN 12 "First Line of text with a ½ mm of space before the next line" 0.5) PAGE_TEXT_CENTRE (HN 12 "Second line of text with default spacing after it")
That will produce two lines of text with a 0.5mm spacing between them. You could reduce the spacing to 0.0 if you would like the lines of text to touch or even a negative value.
Let me know if you need further help. Clive

Hi Mike, AlbumEasy is completely stand alone. Simply download the installer from the internet and execute it on your computer and it will install AlbumEasy. When running the installer you will likely receive a warning that the software is from an "unknown publisher", that is because I have not purchased a digital certificate which costs a few hundred dollars.
There is absolutely no communication with the internet whatsoever, neither when the installer is run nor afterwards when the application is being used. The source code is published and open to inspection by anyone with a programming background. So I am not sure why you are receiving warnings that it tries to access the internet.
Hopefully you can get this sorted out, if you do, I would be curious to know what the problem was in case others are having similar issues. Clive

My Norton stops it from contacting the internet every time I click the "View PDF" button. I have even deleted the program and reinstalled it. It still does it every time. I am just going to delete it from my computer. Thanks, Mike.

I am just going to delete it from my computer. Thanks, Mike. Hello Mike, Your last message provided the clue to solving this problem as I know with absolute certainty that AlbumEasy makes no attempt whatsoever to contact the internet. However, when you click the 'View PDF" button AlbumEasy launches the default PDF viewing application on your computer. So in this case it is not AlbumEasy that is attempting to contact the internet, but your PDF viewing application which is the problem, so removing AlbumEasy is not going to fix the problem, you will still have the same issue whenever you try to view any PDF on your computer.
Looking back at your earlier posts I examined the screen shot you provided more closely and notice that it is not AlbumEasy but rather a program called FromDocToPDF that is attempting to contact the internet. FromDocToPDF is malware and I suggest that you remove it as soon as possible. Googling for "FromDocToPDF malware" returns a raft of answers, some of which describe a manual method of removal and others that try to convince one to pay for a removal tool. Once you have FromDocToPDF off your computer, if you want to try AlbumEasy again, I can assure you that it is absolutely safe. Clive

Clive Hey, I do not have FromDocToPDF on my computer because I didn't install it when it asked me to. That is what I am saying. When I tried to open the PDF, it tried to get me to install it, but I just cancelled it. I have a full PDF viewer on my computer, so I should have never got that install request. I am running Windows 7, if that makes a difference. Thanks, Mike.

If it asked you to install it, then that malware is almost surely in your computer. The request to install may just be the second stage of it's infection, trying to get elevated admin rights so it can complete it's mission. I'm a software developer, and AlbumEasy's author's explanation looks sound.
