The circulation of 1 schilling was 1,300,000, the 2 shillings 700,000 pieces. But it is estimated only 8,000 of the 1 schilling and 400O the 2 shillings, were used making the used ones much more valuable and prone to forgery
Griffin detail 1850 1a Security threads are visible on all the originals There is also a shadow shading behind the griffins printed on a second pass thereby thwarting forgeries which do not have the shading
1850 1b Genuine
1850 2a Genuine

I am not sure if this stamp is in the right spot. It is a Holstein stamp, but the postmark is Danish. Numeral cancel #115 is the town of Eutin, which is outside of Holstein, in the Prince-Bishopric of Luebeck. This is a separate entity form Lübeck proper. It is an exclave of Oldenburg.

Following Denmark's defeat in the war of 1864 Slesvig was occupied by Prussia, and Holstein by an Austrian administration. Stamps were issued for each territory separately. The previous Danish numeral cancellers continued in use as we see above for EUTIN . Denmark had previously run the postal service in Schleswig, Holstein, Lauenburg and Oldenburg, and had maintained a Danish Post office in the cities of Lubeck(#3)and Hamburg (#2). Austria and Prussia subsequently had a falling out, and Prussia took over both Schleswig and Holstein, (stamps issued in joint names in 1865.) The Duchies were absorbed into the German Reich in 1872 when King Wilhelm of Prussia became the 1st Kaiser

The King of Denmark also held the titles Duke of Schleswig and Duke of Holstein and family connections to the Duchy of Oldenburg. While the Danish post Office deliberated over the cost of introducing postage stamps in 1851 The Duchy of Schleswig actually issued stamps before the Royal Post Office got organised! I dont have Mi #1 but here is #2

The blue line on the SCHLESWIG -HOLSTEIN stamp above is a security silk thread incorporated in the paper . Similar silk threads are found in the 10d and 1/- GB Embossed stamps of 1847 and in the imperf Helvetia stamps of Switzerland

I really just started on the Schleswig-Holstein stamps this year. I had some in the book, just from buying collections, but never really paid much attention. Here is what I have:

Here's a full sheet (well most of it, it was larger than my scanner's field of view) of the 1 ore issue for the Schlesvig Plebiscite in 1920. The sheet is 10x10 stamps, and there is a flaw in the overprint of the 21 st stamp, wherein the O of ZONE is broken, spelling ZCNE instead.

Following the treaty of Versailles, plebiscites were held in various disputed parts of the German Reich. In Schleswig Holstein there were three Zones . Zone 1 in the north was still largely rural and Danish speaking and voted to leave the Reich and return to Denmark, the second Zone with the major towns in south Jutland voted to remain German. That vote meant there was no point in having a plebiscite in the Third Zone of south Holstein as it was overwhelmingly German.
